Always love to see some coverage of other prefectures, I love to see these kinds of content since individual prefectures and cities that get less attention are the exact things I want to learn about. Very informative, thank you!

Niigata being famous for its rice probably at least partly explains why sooooo many of the sake you can buy in the USA (at least where I live in Boston) is imported from Niigata Prefecture. That beef and onigiri looks like the best combination on Earth. Niigata city is definitely on the list of places for next time I can go to Japan (hopefully next year!). Amazing video as always! Too many cool things in it to fit into one comment (like Oya-san's hilarious description of the Yonshaku-Dama firework experience lmao). Can't wait for the next upload, man 😇

I bought a property in Niigata city, people keep asking me “why Niigata?” Now I can show them this instead of just saying how much I like the rice!

Thanks for this great video Ryotaro. The firework festival looks beautiful and Oya-San looks like a fun and nice man. We will spend 6 nights in Niigata prefecture next March (1 in Niigata city, 3 on Sado island and 2 at ryuogon). I hope we will still have a bit of snow at ryuogon. And I have to research if we can enjoy 1 and 2 of your video.

That was an excellent video about Niigata, honestly, it was so relaxing and peaceful to watch that now, I’m waiting for the next one about another prefecture ! During last summer, I went to Hakodate and Aomori prefectures to see Neputa matsuri, and I was surprised that there was not a lot of content about it, and also managed to travel by train through the inaka and it was so....nice. 😊

I love this, saving the video for when I plan my next trip! Also 1) I keep confusing Niigata with Nagano - hopefully I'll stop doing that now; 2) I've had koi sashimi and didn't think it was that tasty. Tastes like water! Love be salted grilled ayu though 🤤

One other thing that you can so in Niigata in Summer is the 3 day Fuji Rock Festival. Usually at the end of June, beginning of July. Been a few times and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Not just for headbangers and drunks but something you can bring the whole family to. Look up videos here on YT.

I am always excited when someone posts a vlog on Niigata, that is where my ojiisan was born. I never met him as he passed away many years before I was born. It’s the first place I want to visit if I ever go to Japan. Thank you Ryotaro, this was wonderful. 😊

niigata was a wonderful city and I'm glad I visited but the SPIDERS EVERYWHERE was a problem. Huge ones, tiny ones, sometimes 5 or 6 different ones all living together in a single corner.... Great city, skip the spiders.

I had a weird dream that I was in Niigata once. There were hills I kept having to walk up, with lots of forest and greenery, and I kept having to walk everywhere. I don't know if any of that reflects in the real thing, but it was... odd.

Ok. I am 33 seconds in. And I would just like to say. That if I don’t see Risotorro trying to flog me a pair of trousers made from former Sumo mawashis or a backpack made from Niagata palm fronds rolled on the knee of Japanese maidens at the end of the video I am going to be mighty displeased. However, while writing this, I realise I have Day 6 of the November Sumo Basho to catch up on. So I shall come back later!
@danleighton15 күн бұрын
Ok. So far he has banged on about tea cups and carp. Maybe he is going to try and flog me a tea set. Or some fish and chips. I’m not sure yet. But it is sure to involve and uncomfortable looking man agreeing to give a discount he doesn’t want to for us viewers. Mmmmh! Guilty discounts!

Very informative. Ryotaro, being a dick is not in your nature, so when you try to be, it sounds very un-harmonious. For the English on the other hand, it is quite natural and therefore harmonious with their nature, making it entertaining to watch. As the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius said, "He who lives in harmony with himself lives in harmony with the universe ." You are a teddy bear, so please just be yourself...
