Well... The thing is that we had 7 NG games(Arcade, 3 NES games and 3 spin-offs) from 1988 to 1992. After that, we only got an inferior Trilogy on SNES in 1995. DOA 1 released in 1996.

I'm not familiar with this franchise, but your description of how they inserted this popular character into major moments he wasn't in originally, just reminds me of Scorpion game-ending Goro in the first MK Legends movie lol.

This video is spot on, and I agree with every point you made regarding how overutilized Hayabusa was in Dimensions. Unless one of the writers is a fan of Sailor Moon, I dunno what the hell they were thinking... In addition, I believe DOA6 was a missed opportunity to utilize Nyotengu to introduce the tengu realm and, by extension, naturally segue into Ninja Gaiden 4 to see the realm fully realized... maybe even give some insight on how Hayabusa and Hayate even became friends in the first place. Thanks for the shoutout and the friendly reminder that I need to finish those story differences.

The OG story of DOA 1 to 4 was already good. Hayabusa didn't need to inject himself in the main plot since the story is about Kasumi leaving the Mugen Tenshin to enact revenge on her uncle and hence she was targeted for execution by her sister Ayane. It's like Yoshimitsu decides to involve himself with the Mishima bloodline feud when Jin is trying to atone for his sin and overcome his father Kazuya and Yoshimitsu decides to stab Kazuya for Jin to win. It wouldn't be satisfying. DOA 1 Kasumi wins the tournament and beats her sister and uncle by herself, DOA 2 Hayabusa can have the win since the main plot is about Hayate regaining his memories, DOA 3 Ayane beats her foster father being brainwashed by Donovan and DOATEC hence Ayane leads the Hajimon section along with her brother Hayate to destroy DOATEC in DOA 4 while Kasumi confronts her clone Alpha 152. Hayabusa during this story plays the supporting role for the Mugen Tenshin siblings to overcome their challenges and difference to achieve their goals. DOA is a story about Kasumi and her siblings.

Whether DOA will be back it depends - SoulCalibur 6 also did "Ok" Yet we had a long post from Harada who pretty much confirmed that there is no SC7 in development or anything. I believe that DOA might have similar problem. At least we have Venus Vacation tho while SC only re-released Broken Destiny on PS Store - It appears that current Team Ninja is more into Souls games rather then DOA/NG.

There's something with fighting game stories and altering the flow of the story so that the poster boy characters are put into places where they don't belong to try and make them act like the ultimate hero. And it's always done to the chagrin of the fans who loved the initial direction said characters were going in the first place. Hope to see some more DOA content if you're in the mood for it as well, the series is dormant at the moment and it's nice to see someone talk about the story of these games!

3:46 I mean, it could actually make sense because before the Kokoro scene Ayame lectured Ayane telling her to help Kasumi and that family bonds are stronger than the shinobi code, so maybe she was already planning to spare her before doing it in the later scene of the same chapter? Or another logical explaination to try to make sense was that she was conflicted due to her mother lecturing her that after the Kokoro scene she changed her mind and decided to let her see Hayate.

What are your opinions on DOA7 becoming a reboot of the series (that’s from what I’ve heard). And how would change anything from the original story to make it better. As a side note I had an idea of a video about the similarities between two games (if you are interested). DOA6 and SCV. Both are technically the sixth mainline entries (if you count Soul Edge/Blade) that underperformed and put the series in jeopardy only to be followed up by a reboot etc

2:00 Exactly honestly, whenever i think about ryu , and how he protected kasumi, it just reminded me of hiruzen and naruto (yeah, i protect kasumi( promise to hayate) , : anyway, let's ayane chase her to death(sent ayane after kasumi) , yeah let's kasumi deal with her problems(leaving kasumi hurt and sick during doa 3 events), yeah let's leave kasumi wandering and being hunted by her fellow shinobi villagers (instead of sending her to some safe place) or some alpha 154 come and hunt her what ryu ruined during doa events basically was doa1: ryu not meant to help her defeat raiduo(in original story mode, kasumi defeated raidou all by herself, proving that she defeated someone that soloed her entire vilalge, establishing her as main character of series) doa2: ryu sending ayane after kasumi and slaping her was stupid af , (add to all of that , forcing kasumi and hayate to fight without informing kasumi about what is going on) doa3: stealing spotlite from ayane (though be fair, that kokoro scene wasn't bad , it establish that kasumi was in weak state and disguised as high schooler , and explained why ayane managed to overcome kasumi) doa4: ok doa5: ok( story revolves to point that , it would be kasumi be the one to finish the fight , as it should be) doa6: ok (it was nice seeing kasumi and ryu tag along , but i wish he had more roles) (3:13 , well that who he is , i am not complaining about how this game showed him)

To be fair, when in DOA2 Ryu sent Ayane after Kasumi wasnt to kill her, or else it wouldnt make sense to his promise to Hayate, hes probabily expecting in that moment that Ayane would simply obey his order to bring her back to him by setting aside the order he received from Genra for that moment, or else she would face the wrath of a ninja she cannot defeat. Ironically they handled him better in the worst story modes ever created for the series, such as 5 and 6.

Ironically yeah, he is better character in DOA5 and DOA6 Despite those games have worse story modes in series in DOA 5 : He is last person who is there to Calm Fake Kasumi near death(despite it is not his role, it is to protect kasumi, but he does it anyway for fake one too) , then later on he teams up with real kasumi and is there for her in final fight (also, yeah in doa5 , he lets kasumi stay in a safe place alongside Muramasa who is also a high trained warrior as well) , so far so good In DOA6 : he comes to help kasumi instantly when some danger comes close to her, then he does not leave her side, and actually teaming up with her in majority of story mode, until last part of story where she faced ayane the guy actually does his job pretty good in latest two games about DOA2, I know hayabusa had good intention for kasumi, but man , i can not shake the decisions that he made out of my mind, i presumed that , maybe hayabusa was not aware of hatred that ayane got for kasumi(he might thought , since they are sisters, she will not do anything horrible to her) so far so good, but man, even if that was case, and even if he never realized that ayane attacked kasumi for Blood and even if her never bothered to actually check on her instead of ayane(or even the fact that he actually rage quit and slapped her) , even if i ignore these , he still did not seek kasumi after the events, the story even further confirmed that , kasumi became sick, and was wandering for such long time and was even disguised, so that her fellow clan members wouldn't find her.... and you can not convince me that Great Ryu hayabusa could not find her either(for example , imagine that , in DOA3 , Ayane actually would decide to kill kasumi, what would stop her then? the only reason that she did not, was because her mother's wish) seriously , writers could not balance Kasumi's tragic Fate with Hayabusa's Ultra Badassery into a Same Coup , one of them will ruin the other one

@@baziworld I suppose Ryu is an allknowing character in the series, so he must be fully aware of the situation between the siblings, he just assumes Ayane obeys him and wont do anything funny to her sister, a huge gamble on his part imo. In DOA3 before Dimensions retcon Ayane doesnt try to kill Kasumi because she needs to deal with Genra while in Dimensions they added the scene with her mother to add more motives she had this change of heart. Unless you were talking about the scene with Kokoro where Kasumi was sick and vulnerable and not the other one I guess what would stop Ayane would be the fact that her older sister is very hard to beat and even stronger imo and maybe Ryu puts trust on her skills when he leaves her alone. Either way Kokoro does a better job than Ryu in protecting Kasumi in chapter 3 lmao.

Well i gotta Say, Ryu really had So much Faiths and Trust on Kasumi (no i am serious, from what i can see, he thought that , "yeah lets let this single 17 years old girl who never went outside of her village, never knew what is current money even is , never killed anyone , never stole from anyone and never possibly will,.....let's leave her Alone on her own , and while her clan members are at her tail,(and an evil organization and her clone at her tail) it is not like she has any place or get sick or anything" lol point is , even if kasumi is strong , she is not invincible , she has moralities and lack of knowledge of current world and health(specially after being prison for couple of months) My man Ryu was daydreaming at this point, hoping that kasumi can afford a place, gather knowledge and stay hidden and survives her clan members(ayane+hayate included who was at time still following order) As 2:00 said, he is embodiment of Badassery here ***well Dimensions actually makes sense, in doa3 ayane defeats kasumi, but that's it...Dimensions explains she let go because she promised her mother to do that( which was my point , "what if ayane decides to ignore her mother's wish and kill sick kasumi after defeating her" i want to see Hayate glaring at Ryu hayabusa's Face because how much good good Protector ryu is, As you Said, Ironically Kokoro protected Kasumi Better (and not because some promise, because she was in danger, kasumi's forehead was hot and she needed help) , it would be cool if they would meet again , and made a reference to their encounter( I remember in last scene of DOA5, Kasumi thanked Ayane, and Hayate , but not Hayabusa ... lol, it is an unwanted joke but even she knew ,Ryu is bad at protecting her)

Good video and I agree. I now Hayabusa is a very powerful character and popular among fans but he doesn't need to be ham-fisted everywhere into other character's arcs and whatnot. For the most part, leave him to do do his own thing. Guess he gotta keep himself busy until *Ninja Gaiden IV* releases lol.

Hayabusa helping Kasumi defeat Raidou upsets me. He is a great character I agree with most of your points. In regards to Irene, I watched a documentary about cia agents. They are trained to fight in hand to hand combat. Yet she was captured by Christie, Hayashi and Shimbori did her dirty. Edit: I can't believe I left this out. On Team Ninja official Facebook. After Dimensions released on the 3ds. They asked fans what do you think of the character Irene? There were only 4 or 5 negative comments saying she looks like Elliot with a b**b job. And another saying her concept art hairstyle for Ng2 was a better design. If this was them trying to test the waters of including her in more games I'm very disappointed In them. Hopefully she is Ryu wife for the next reboot. Rachel is a great character I'm surprised she was ignored in Ninja Gaiden 3. Fun fact Irene is mentioned supporting Ryu in Doa 6 I think in the encyclopedia mode or something lol. Phase 4 seems to actually have a story, by reading about it only. I've given up on Doa at this point, I'm sure future characters will have similarities to Marie & Honoka. Mila and Lisa are still missing in Venus Vacation. I hope there will be another Ninja Gaiden It's been way to long. In regards to Momiji imo she is perfect!

tbh, if there were a potential DOA7 i would preffered they reboot the series and hold off on the super serious/boring ninja clone plotline, and just go for a wacky summer beach episode style type of aesthetic, were everybody just goes to zack's island for a tournament or something. I feel very few people really ever cared that much for the DOA storyline and at this point there is kinda too much for someone to just jump into the middle of it in a potential DOA7.

@@RealKame they made ryu looks like "LINK" of this game (helped her against raidou, someone that she meant to defeat all by herself saved her in doa 2 against alpha( and telling her to fight with hayate) (and for some reason senting ayane to bring her back, which only result to a fight death, (and slapping kasumi, to show how cool he is), so wise!) in doa 3 leaving kasumi (but instead ruins ayane story)(leaving kasumi in doa3 doesn't make any sense at least, because based on this game, kasumi was extremely sick, and she was under constant hunt by her fellow villagers why now leaving kasumi of all time) saved her in doa 4 against even minor threat like helena(which is stupid , since in later on(based on both doa4 and this game) , she fought to draw against alpha 154, who defeated ayane+hayate all by herself) , they should have deleted this part from doa 4 part (even post games like doa 6 , saved her against phase 4 :(like REALLY) *doa5 was a good example of how ryu sent letter to kasumi for help, establishing that , he needs her , and how important she is to defeat the final threat, and she was the one to finish the fight

Either every Doa characters are God or Ryu Hayabusa is a fraud cause there no way any character should be able to fight Ninja Gaiden Ryu (Although if I remember correctly Jann Lee did punch a dinosaur out so)! 😂
