I think, Ryuga could also handle it with Dragon Emperor Supreme Flight. But he wanted to show Tsubasa how much weaker he is compared to Ryuga, so he used the ultimate move to let Tsubasa know how big the power difference between them really is.

It's also because of the plot, they've already fought and won against Nemesis, the God of Destruction that could destroy and vanish the entire human population. Compared to that, nothing seems like a real threat anymore. They even tried expanding it further with Shogun Steel but it just didn't actually catch the public's attention.

I wish they rewrote the whole metal series and turned it into a more mature show. They should really go balls deep on the craziness but also write the characters in a better way. Ryuga would do better if he was more mature in metal fury, and Gingka should have struggled with the death of his father for all the series up until the end. That would give us a reason to make Ryuga not join the legendary bladers, but not have him decibe, but rather the wrathful Gingka. It would actually make sense if he betrays them after just because of how much he would he hated by him. He could still help Tsubasa if this was the plot. He would help them in metal masters against the American team too. If they just gave more care to the writing this show could be a masterpiece. Btw the bey battles would be so much better if they remade it so thats a bonus
