Carsten Nicolai (Alva Noto) and Ryuichi Sakamoto will take Stage+D to talk about their regular collaborations. Since 2002 they have released 4 albums together: Vrioon, Insen, Summvs, and more recently, Glass. Their latest show, Two, was presented at the Teatre Grec in Barcelona after its premiere in Berlin, as the closing act of the 25th anniversary of Sónar.

Wow, they really had a beautiful, intimate relationship. It says a lot about the music itself.

The nature question put to Carsten could have really been unpacked, that’s the real nut of the Revenant. The entire interview could have been just expanding on this question. Love to hear more about electronic sound as more like “nature” than classical. Electronic sound is natural.

The most interesting part is the last 15 minutes or so. Overall the two respond by feeling very uncomfortable with those questions... questions that are also quite simple. But Sakamoto really shows himself to be an amused person, unfortunately the interview came out as quite fixed... The best part is when Sakamoto says he doesn't like the synthetic images during the Alva Noto's concerts :D He doesn't like them much :) The other is when they both explain the nature of the sounds, the close proximity between nature and electronic music. I would have set the whole interview on this discussion, a good lesson would have come up. Both are still nice people, Alva Noto maybe really very shy. Perhaps we should let them talk about what they want, free-wheeling, so that we can learn more about how they make music.
