A forgotten masterpiece, and an important piece of anime history; without it, Gainax would never have gone on to raise the bar (multiple times over) on what TV anime (and animation in general) could do.
@DR3ADER13 жыл бұрын
And despite being one of the best animation studios of all time, they squandered it all by evading taxes(before Ufotable made it mainstream), failing to pay their former staff members properly and getting sued numerous times as a result, and the many allegations of sexual assault. In many ways, GAINAX are the best and worst of the Japanese animation industry. Something that TRIGGER, who are composed of former GAINAX alumni, can't even hold a half-used candle to.

What intrigued me the most about this track, is that it's really just a variation of the main theme, just modernized, signifying the technological progress Shirotsugh accomplished at the end of the movie.

Agreed…good point. I noticed the change in the themes, but I never thought to connect it to Shirotsugh’s journey and accomplishment.

No matter how hard I try, none of my friends will watch this movie. It's a slow burn, I get it, but that build up is monumental. I get teary eyed just thinking about the conclusion of this film. People could probably use the message more today than ever. This song caps off one of the best resolutions to a movie ever.

Royal Space Force is an unique piece of art up there with the big ones, its not slow its just too intelligent and complex for them to understand the beauty of this masterpiece and the amount of work and details that went into its creation is simply mind blowing outstanding on magnificent levels.

Puts in mind something Tarkovsky said about the first hour or so of Solaris being 'boring on purpose' to 'keep out the stupid people'. I've had similar luck trying to get others to appreciate this film.
This song, particularly the beginning, reminds me of being a young boy of about 7 on one special Christmas. I received all the presents I had asked for, and I went outside alone with my sled to enjoy that great blanket of white. I stepped out in my over sized jacket and little snow boots, and it was still snowing all great and silent. I looked up at the sky, and watched the slow descent of the frozen little flakes, and even though I was entirely unconscious to it at the time, I know now that I could sense the enormity existence, and the mystery of it all... I wish that feeling would stay with people forever, and that we would never give up on hope for the future.

Amazing movie, rather a moving piece of art than simply a flick. One could believe this was a studio Studio Ghibli film if you look at all the quality of the animations, artwork and story.

+Nikolay Ivankov Gainax was transforming to be something like this however a lot of the artistic guys left because they were too political, which is understandable they were Communists much like Miyazaki, most of the artistic guys who really built the anime industry were radical left wing born out of a political violent era. From the mass student protests to the generation gap of the 80s and 90s. You do not see things like this anymore, Miyazaki himself has retired, a lot of the old guys are dead or retired for good. We still have Gundam though so that is always reassuring.

Hennessy Bottle I’m not musically talented or anything, but sounds are real easy for me to imprint in my memory. It’s weird. Can’t remember other mundane and regular things as easily, but I can recall names and artists and tracks from like 2-3 seconds worth of audio, irrespective of how much time goes by from hearing them.

Having sampled some of his other music...this is his best hit out there. Everything else he's made has been like some weird, slow orchestral type joint. This song right here though...Straight Money!
@mattbrahe29823 жыл бұрын
It’s been 3 years, so maybe I’m late saying this, but the tiny amount of orchestral stuff he did is not representative of the rest of his music. He was a pioneer of every kind of electronic genre imaginable. Try the album Neo Geo. Or B-2 Unit. Or just any random album off of Discogs that he’s credited on. This track is far more typical of the “Ryuichi Sakamoto sound” than any of his orchestral stuff.
Einhander ending chord loop is similar to this song - citation?
