I noticed that when Ryu is low on lives, two things happen: 1- he's more likely to downvote levels 2- he downvotes every level that doesn't give him 3 one ups

Granted it wasn't no skip at least his skips were on pretty bad levels, and building back up from 1 life was pretty epic in another sense anyway. Keep in mind Panga also said he'd skip if he got another triple shell level as well. I'd like to see Ryu try again to get 1k without skipping, or go to 2k doing whatever. As long as the content is coming I look forward to watching.

aaaactually, you beat 999... When you start it's stage one, 30 lives... But if you beat that first lvl, it shows a 2. Which means its not cleared but level 2 you want to beat... Therefore he beat 999 Levels yet. The x25 1000 looks pretty good anyway

No, if you look at 2:47:31, Ryu cleared 8 levels on this page. Every page there are 16 levels. Based on maths, Ryu indeed beat 1000 stages.

Number in the left hand corner shows what level you are about to beat. If he beat 1000 levels, the counter says 1001 because thats what level he is on.

To congratulate or not; it matters not. Ryu did not have to prove anything here. That he passed the 'milestone' is a moot point but he didn't really have to prove his skill any further through all the RNG and other odd shenanigans you can get during a run. Reaching 500 unbeaten is still beyond a totally ridiculous achievement.

Well put. Ryu has said himself that doing no skips can make the run very luck-based, where at any point you can get an incredibly crazy level that will drain all 99 lives (like 3 triple shell jumps in a row). I love the Hail Mary concept because it is a built-in mechanism to allow him to still have a fighting chance to the save the run, in the event that one of these types of levels emerges. And he never uses it unless he ABSOLUTELY has to. Ryu does a great job at keeping tension high throughout the entire run.
