Ryuzo was pathetic, honestly. He was too proud to ask Jin for a job after losing to him in the tournament, but not too proud to become Khotun's B without even trying to fight him off, nor too proud to try and save his own skin at the end, even after all he had done to protect a bunch of child killers. Jin deserved better. Ryuzo in the other hand got exactly what he deserved.

According to her she always tried to convince mongols to not kill innocents although failed because she was not in control, even told them to stay away from jin and her sensei. Ryuzo is pathetic in every way, feeding his men was just an excuse, he did not care about his sadistic men, he threw them to their deaths just to please khan, could not even own up to his mistakes in the end. I can't really understand why so many people feel bad for Ryuzo. Him and the Straw Hats had the best chances (aside from Lord Shimura's army and Shogun's army) to fight back the Mongols, yet the act like pussies and scumbags during the whole game, torturing their own people.
@rostislavfateev17054 жыл бұрын
Robert De La Torre He was a great friend to Jin before the events in the game, so a player doesn’t see any of this (I doubt that there even was a cutscene showing their past relationships). The first impression about Ryuzo the player gets is when he starts bitching about the lost tournament, implying that Jin should have let him win. And from this moment it only goes downhill. Mind, that Jin constantly meets hopeless weak peasants resisting the Mongols, but the man having a small army decides to join the enemy. By the way, I don’t have a problem with him as a character, he can be whatever the plot needs. I just surprised seeing so many people feeling bad for him, when he got the consequences for his actions.

Lord Shimura would send them to their deaths, just like he did back on Komoda Beach. Although, it was pathetic when he tried to avoid being punished. If I could have written this differently, I would not have written Ryuzo to have tried to lie his way back into Jin's good graces. It felt pointless at that point. I mean, at best, yes, they wanted to convey fear. "Ryuzo knows he messed up". But I think that up to this point, they had him well written. He didn't NEED to be a coward, per se. He could have been adversarial while still maintaining a solid stand on his belief of trying to look out for his men. In fact, his feud with Jin had this beautiful artistic symmetry to it, in that Jin was an official samurai backing his recruits, and Ryuzo was a Ronin backing his. You can equate that to a cop, and a lieutenant in a gang or mob. They could have feuded as friends, which is a very common theme in Japanese films.

If Jin was to not kill him then the other option Jin best had was what he offered Ryuzo which was to surrender, but even then he would most likely just be executed. Ryuzo had a chance to do good even after betraying Jin the first time. Jin would have forgiven him right there but he chose to become Kothun's lapdog instead. And in the end he was still trying to save his own skin, so I don't buy the noble act of doing everything for his men (a bunch of child killers, by the way).

Jin recruited Ryuzo in the fight against the Invading Mongols. The only thing Ryuzo had to do was follow through stand united the entire Straw Hat clan with Jin, Yuna, Lady Masako, Ishikawa and Shimura. Yet he chose to betray his own people. Unforgivable.
