Thanks for measuring the low 0.1% as well. Most people think that both CPUs perform the same, however this metric proves that the 5700x actually dips much less. To me it's a better investment, as some newest games are starting to appear to be more heavy on threads.

I think you're wrong there. The MFS 2020 towards the end of the video shows that the 5600x actually has higher 0.1% lows. This is inconsistent and weird. 8 cores for future proofing, if you want to keep the cpu for like say 3-5 years
@kuyt20 Жыл бұрын
There is no future-proofing for gaming unless you're purchasing all the flagship products. Games benefit more from IPC gains and cache size increases generation-to-generation. Just look at the Ryzen 2600x vs 2700x in today's games. Their performance difference is still virtually the same as it used to be when they launched 4 years ago. All those people who shelled out extra cash for the 2700x thinking two extra cores would benefit them after X amount of years were just delusional. Yes, there might come a time when the optimal gaming CPU core count will go up to 8. But when that day comes, the new 6-core CPUs will still wipe the floor with the 5700x due to IPC, clock and cache improvements. Just like the 5600x is doing with every previous 8-core Ryzen CPU that came before it. Trying to "future-proof" a budget gaming rig is a fool's errand. Buy cheap, use for a few years, then buy the newest cheap offerings again, rinse, repeat.

Just about everything is about the GPU now, you're better off spending your extra money there, getting a good mid-range multicore with a high clock. You'll really only need the extra cores for compute and decoding, etc. As a general rule 'extra' cores has been a waste for gaming compared to higher clocks and a better GPU.

No that is definitely false. There are many games that are very cpu intensive making use of more threads ect.
@YouAreStillNotablaze Жыл бұрын
@@abeedhal6519 And most CPUs you can get at entry to moderate budget pricing will give you enough threads to meet the need. Before you get more threads, the ability to reach higher clocks still matters most. The point being is that you can cut the budget on the cpu, you just don't need even a $300+ CPU for gaming, you're much better off putting more money towards the GPU in terms of price to performance for your build. Unless a game is using some yet never-before-seen engine tech and mechanics, if a game is even 60% as dependent on a CPU having more than 8 threads as it is on GPU processing, the devs did something seriously wrong.
