lol, it's an older video. It's my first RZR a few years back.

Thanks for putting up the footage of it. I assume this was caused by the fire mishaps that Polaris was having rather then weeds or foreign matter catching on fire on the exhaust

Hey Brad, you nailed it. First production run 2011 RZR XP 900, pre heat shield recall. This is exactly why these machines originally had the heat shield recall.

With all the Polaris's (Polari?) that you ride with, has there ever been another fire? I hear about it a lot, but not sure how frequent it really is.

That's not the new turbo RZR is it ?
@AdrenalineJunkieProd6 жыл бұрын
Noooooooooooo, it's actually an old video I found of my first RZR. An early 2011 RZR XP 900. This was an issue on the early RZR's. Heat shield problems, it led to a bunch of recalls after.

Just a little request. Maybe on your other channel do you think you guys could do a walk around if some of the sxs that are in most of your vids. Just showing what's been done. Or what to look for common problem areas. I'm looking to buy a rzr don't know where to start and can t quite afford brand new.

Hey Dave, we sure can. It's actually on our list of things to do this new year. We will be starting by doing my RZR Turbo and my old RZR XP 900. Then we will do some of the other machines when we get a format figured out. Thanks for the great suggestion Dave!

I have an Polaris ace 900 sp and its been in for the recall and the heat still burned a hole through the bed and cargo box .I took it in again but the bed still gets so hot I can't touch it .I have heard of other Polaris machines have cought on fire as well . I'm not sure what to do at this point .The polaris dealer put thin heat shield in the second time but it still gives me a worry . Anybody else have this problem and what did you do ?

The fuel mix s to lean, get a fuel controller or have them enrich the mix

Mike Panocatapolis Thanks Mike , I'll try your suggestion . Polaris can't fix the problem so maybe this will help.

You can also improve the heat shielding yourself. Try covering the existing heat shields in Reflect-A-Gold. Its made by DEI. Its a space age heat shielding. I use it on my race cars and have used it on offroad applications with great success to. It dose a great job reflecting heat.

Heat Shield or Fuel Rail? ... was the culprit ever officially determined in your case? ... these fires that so quickly engulf the entirety of the machine would lend more to a fuel rail failure.
@AdrenalineJunkieProd6 жыл бұрын
Hey Mike, I'm almost positive it was heat shield that caused the plastic between the seats to ignite. Once that happened its was not long before the roof was engulfed and then probably the fuel lines. Went up in moments. Freaky stuff.

was this a red one? then you got the black xp 900 and now the turbo?
@AdrenalineJunkieProd6 жыл бұрын
Correct Joseph. This was my first 2011 RZR XP 900, the one that started it all. I forgot I had this bit of video footage and stumbled across it organizing some files on the computer. Figured I would share it, lol.

All the the brands have their issues but when you compare the wire routing ,component placement [rectifier on the Razrs] and fit and finish on Can Am, Honda ,Yamaha, Kawasaki,Suzuki to - Polaris you can clearly see the attention to detail in engineering is lacking . I've owned three Polaris vehicles and although they perform well [ suspension /engine performance ] I would not recommend them .
@AdrenalineJunkieProd6 жыл бұрын
I respectfully disagree. I would agree that the fit and finish is nicer on the Can-Am cockpit. However, I would also say that Polaris has done a good job improving on all these issues over the years. This was an early 2011 RZR 900XP, at that time Can-Am, Kawasaki, Yamaha or Arctic Cat had nothing that even came close to this machine in looks or performance. It was an early phase for Polaris and the performance SXS industry as a whole. A lot was learned from these machines during this era and now most these issues are corrected. Polaris is good at learning from their mistakes and correcting them. One could argue that the 2011 Polaris RZR XP 900 built what we now know as the Performance SXS market. As far as the rectified issue, the now mount the voltage regulator above the radiator in the front of the machine where it is nice and safe.
