Another solid video. I see RZR's all over with messed up alignment. I think a lot of people mess that stuff up when they swap front end components like A-Arms and Steering assemblies. I remember I had a heck of the time trying get my toe set on my old 900 XP. Thanks for all the tips.

Have to give you a thumbs up for taking the time to align the rzr like this. This is by far the BEST alignment job I have seen done on a UTV. I simply counted the steering rotations from left to right, divided in half and then centered my wheel. I then adjusted my tie rods where they visually looked good. No measurements taken.
@photokendall7 жыл бұрын
I measured from the back side of the wheels and I am at 43" and the front of the tires is at 42". So 1" toe-in by eye balling it. Not horrible, I am going to fix it now after seeing your video.

Haha thanks, glad you found it useful. I used to use the "string" method when I was a teenager, it turned out to not be that great. This method has had a few revisions, but I think now I've got it spot on. The key is having the suspension under its own weight, toe-in can change between full droop, compression, or normal ride height. Just be super careful so it doesn't fall when getting it into position. Making a thing that could bolt to the wheel hubs and still let it turn freely would be ideal. It could have measuring rods made onto it as well, that would be perfect.

Sure would have enjoyed seeing how you pulled the steering wheel? Did you do it form the box or just the wheel itself?
@RZRsEdgeInMotion Жыл бұрын
I used the little purpose built rzr steering wheel puller. I think the one I have now came from Assault Industries, but others have them as well. It's just a small piece of C-channel with 3 holes and 3 bolts. Very simple, but very effective. It's pretty much the only way to get the damn things off. I tried yanking one off one time with a tractor and couldn't do it...

I believe the tie rod ends are supposed to be on the bottom of the knuckle. if mounted on top it causes bump steer.

William Hall - Thanks for commenting! Really they should be in whichever position keeps the tie rods closest to the same relative angle as the a-arms. If they are as close as they can be to the same angle, then the distance between them will basically stay the same as they move up and down. If the angles between the arm and tie rod are too far off, then the distance between them will change as the suspension cycles, which causes the toe alignment to change as it cycles. I've seen them both ways from the factory on different machines, so this may be model dependant.

my steering wheel turns more to one side than the other, whats weirder is the steering wheel is straight as well as the tie rods are nowhere near bent or have more thread in one side than the other, just need some advice on it honestly cause its messing with me real bad
@RZRsEdgeInMotion3 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the steering rack isn't centered, but if the tie rods are even that's odd. Take the boots off the rack ends and measure the shaft itself with everything centered. Measure from the outer lip where the shaft goes into the rack body to the end of the shaft itself on each side and compare. If they are even we can go hunting from there.

Good methodology except for one thing. You based your measuring on where a 32" tire would be on your piece of metal. But the factory spec of 1/8 to 1/4 inch is based on stock wheel sizes which are 25" so your alignment is actually going to be out of spec. If you had marked where a 25" tire would be, your method would work great, regardless of wheel size because it would be measuring at the exact point where the factory spec is given.
@RZRsEdgeInMotion7 жыл бұрын
That is indeed sound logic, obviously the further out you measure, the relative angle between the two tires will decrease. Thanks for bringing that up! At least in this case, it's still going to be pretty close because that RZR comes with 29" tires from the factory.

Why toe out on RZRs? Opposite of pretty much my vehicle.
@RZRsEdgeInMotion6 жыл бұрын
Christopher Keene - it's not supposed to be, it was, that was the problem. They are supposed to be set 1/8th to 1/4 in.

@@RZRsEdgeInMotionat the end of setting the toe, you say the toe should be set out, here you mention they are supposed to be toe in…. Will you please clarify? I’m confused.

Vlad - That really only works if the front and rear track width are the exact same. In the case of most of these machines, it is not, as they change width based on the angle of the suspension arms.
