When I did this job with 1998 ES300 (belt replaced only), I didn't remove the tensioner, just used a pry bar to push the tip of the lever (go with the tensioner bearing) down to remove the belt out. Just saying. Of course, you did a great job here, good mechanic.

Good Job, however I have a few critiques, 1) I would avoid using a gear puller to remove the crank pulley, proper tool would have been better. 2) Engine is supposed to only be rotated in the clockwise direction. 3) proper tool for the crank seal installation to avoid tears or damages to the seal. 4) I would have replaced the tensioner rather than reuse, most oem kits on eBay already include it.

Tuu Hoang I would’ve double checked the timing before starting. Maybe turn the engine a few times and check if the tension and everything is correct

Cool Man .Tôi phải dùng cây breaker bar chống xuống nền bê tông để bắn con ốc đầu máy ra. Nhiều khi torque wrench không đủ sức dù chơi cái air trên 300 Bft chứ đừng nói electric. Đừng quay nguợc cam shaft hay crank shaft coi chừng trật một cog là hỏng chuyện.

I think that old oil seals are not the problem, the oil isn’t leaking. That old oil seals will be loosing to 100.000km for drivered. Also change by new timing belt.

I watched your video, good jobs with your talent and without any special tools, but I think you need to emphasize the important things and do a little more speak in your procedure. I question myself how you make sure the timing is correct position after release tensioner pin. It is always having an error as doing that. I believed by doing as the way you performed the front cam needs go to the right 2 notch before releasing the tensioner. Am I right? In my thought, we also need to rotate the bottom cam a couple turn after installed timing belt completely to make sure the timing mark in 3 cams is corrected before starting the engine. Thanks!

1. You omitted upper pulley and lower pulley (tensioner) need to replacement along with water pump (you can buy these kits as life time and not worry again)3 seals can be omitted even after 200K miles. 2. 3 belts (Timing Belt, Supper tine and steering) only lifetime at NAPA parts

Hey man - you skipped the details in installing the timing belt. I had not watched the entire video before I made my first comment. This is always the mosy difficult part of the whole procedure! With your talents, you should have shared details of how to best perform this task. I had tremendous difficulty and I am sure you could offer some good tips. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate the video very much. I just thought you could have spent more time on the belt installation. Thanks!

remove the engine wheel to the mark top desk center then remove the camshaft to the mark on the left & the right must correct both side, then replacement the belt before after that replacement the t-belt hydraulic tension adjuster that all for you do it thank your question.

If labor is not an issue, then the belt is the only one need to be replaced. Most of mechanical parts like bearings, tensioner, etc wouldn't fail easily. I did the same with my ES300, only the belt was the one I replaced. Since I bought the used car, didn't know when the last time the timing belt job was done. After 5 yrs, it is still running fine. Of course, if you bring car to the shop, they will recommend you to replace the whole.

Tensioner Will Last 2 T.Belts,on Toyota & Most Japanese Cars,As Long As Tensioner is A Good Brand & NOT A PARTS HOUSE BRAND OF TENSIONER,MOST PART STORES "HOUSE" Brand Parts Are From CHINA,& ARE JUNK.I Got 888,875 MLS.From the Tundra & Only T.Belt That Ever Broke Was A NAPA House Brand Belt,That Still Last 150,000 ,Before IT Went South,That a Mech.Forgot to Put Mlg.Sticker on T.Belt Cover.The Toyota Brand of Tensioners for Early Tundras Are GREAT ,Got 3 T.Belt Servs.Out Of Last Toyota Tensioner.But It Was $90,If I Recall,But WORTH IT !!
