They are very much the same Scott. Both would be the biggest clubs in their respective countries of Scotland & Northern Ireland & both teams supporters would be predominantly 'Protestant' but not exclusively. As it stands at the time of writing BOTH teams are 2 of the most successful in the world with BOTH having won their respective leagues 54 times.

As a 45 year old Protestant man I really wish all this band culture was a relic of the past. It breeds sectarianism, hatred and is a recruiting ground for Loyalist paramilitaries. Makes me sad now to see a ten year old kid with the band sticks at the front of the band. Another generation stuck in the past. (I was in a flute band in the 1990s)
