This crossover is glorious. However, from personal experience. Just keep doing mac out Friday's and Saturday open mats and you're golden. No more PRs or belt promotions, but a lot of fun!

Weight classes are awful when you're the size where you're just above the previous weight cap and you're comfortably lean, but you have almost 10 kg to fill for in muscle if you want to optimize to the current class (filling up with non-lean mass doesn't seem as great, losing mobility and speed more in comparison). Pretty tough ask. But hey at least I'm not competing in some years still if I will. A lot of judokas say that the best cardio training for not gassing out in competition is doing more judo (free practice randori). Improves your game at the same time so you learn to manage your intensity better and not spend unnecessary amounts of energy when not necessary. For example olympic judokas start increasing their randori sessions up to 20 a time (one lasts I believe 5 minutes). But that does require a lot of partners (which is why they usually train at training centers or Japanese universities).
