Love your blogs I thought I was a good shooter but you put me to shame keep the good work up you are doing a good job wish you covered our land the chap that covered the land round me lost his licence because he was loosing his marbles .thats 4 years ago and no one has done it since .i noticed when you was walking about a skylark was singing lovely to see them foxes will destroy them I haven’t seen one for years. Nor the English partridge all we have is vermin crows magpies etc ,and the dreaded sparrow hawk .all the best and good hunting wish I was a bit younger to do the job but I’m 75 ,

Great video & great shooting as always Mark, have to say I am not overly impressed with the image quality of the 4K Alpex so far, hopefully time will change my mind. Thanks for sharing.

Same here. Maybe youtube compression but I'm wondering if this is an early one with test firmware? I've seen other youtube footage that is better. Don't know, doesn't inspire me to go out and buy it just yet.

Mine is a pre production model and I must admit I’ve seen other footage which looks clearer 🤔

Excellent video and shooting as always, but IR simply pales against thermal and this was very evident when trying to track the foxes in varying cover and undulating ground. However I guess one has to try and promote these products and you did a very good job on that score

Just looking ur opinion Mark what would be a nice 17hmr at around the 3/4 hundred mark or less just for a bit of fun at the hooded crow's and rabbits maybe the odd Fox

The tikka hmr or anshultz would probably be my choice 😉

Mark, Did you need to true the ballistic calculator? If so, did you do so with the BC alone or change velocity as well?
@260rips9 ай бұрын
No I haven’t as yet but I’m actually aiming fractionally above the point I want to hit by a few inches at that distance, I will just knock a bit off the velocity rather than the bc but in fairness I went with the ammo manufacturers velocity where as I should really have cronoed it 👍

I see the charging cover was missing, i would have thought they would have come up with a better solution than a little fip off cover.

I was looking at possibly getting an alpex but the image quality didn’t look particularly great especially on that last fox or though I have seen some good videos where it looks pretty clear
@260rips4 ай бұрын
It’s a good unit but the more you mag it up the more it pixilates, and bare in mind the range in each clip too 👍

Just bought an Alpex 4k lrf and instructions are a bit thin on the ground, anyways its up and running but my problem with it is you can set it to yards in the menu but when you go into the ballistics part of the menu its in metres per second and all metric for setup so i have no idea if it needs set at 91 metres for my 100 yard zero and do i have to convert my chrono Feet per Second over to metres arghhh wtf you would think if you set it all up with moa etc the ballistic part would be converted to, emailed HIK no reply in 4 days so far
@260rips9 ай бұрын
Easiest thing to do is convert your fps into mps (just google it and you will get a converter come up. Hopefully as most of us are using fps for our readings they will do a software update to change this 👍

Hi mark im looking at getting a thermal scope what are your thoughts a scope with higher base magnification or lower for shots out to a 120 yards your opinion would be be much appreciated
@260rips9 ай бұрын
Best thermal scopes in my opinion would be a InfiRay. I really like the th50 v2 but if it’s a bit over budget then the tl50 or tl35 are still very good 👍

Hi mark am looking to get this scope but setting up the ballistic calculator is baffling me abit it says on a other video its in meters per second not ft per second so how would i change that am using factory ammo 223 super performance are would strelok pro tell me the info i need to put in if i change to meters per second 🤔
@260rips9 ай бұрын
🧐 if you just put in google ‘3000 fps to metres per second’ (or whatever your velocity is) you should be able to find out what it is 👍 if you are using 53 grain superformance then the factory states a speed of 3465fps which converts to 1056 mps, if that helps 👍
@mattk77159 ай бұрын
@260rips thanks very much for your help mate see you at the show 👍yeah iam using 53gr super performance bullets
