Cracking results and a miss but we all get them from time to time don’t we, especially at that distance, I’ve missed them at much closer distances than that and good to see that even the best shot can have a miss now and again.

Just getting into shooting and hunting foxes. I can see you are adjusting your elevation and possibly windage on the fly. I understand you gotta know your rifle to fully grasp doing those adjust on the fly. But have you got any tips and pointers for me? I've got a 6.5creedmoor and i am comfortable with the hold overs on this cartridge at about 200yrds but would like to know how to make the adjustments from 100yrd zero out to any range and still hold middle of crosshair as point of aim. I do love you videos and it's rellay helped me with hunting foxes and what to look for etc.. GREAT VIDEO 👍

@260rips
@260rips Жыл бұрын
The 243 fires a lighter 6mm bullet and the 260 is shooting a heavier 6.5mm bullet. Performance wise it isn’t vastly different it’s more down to my preference for the 260 for longer range due to it being my usual workhorse!

As I mentioned this is a sheep farm and pheasant shoot, not only do foxes predate song birds but will also take a toll on gamebirds as well as lambs in the spring and piglets from the next door farm, not to mention any farm chickens and geese!

I'm suprised that you would shoot that range with thermal and put the video out for all to see when it's just a white blob ... If there's one thing that's going to kill our shooting it will surely come from a person shooting at something they THINK is a fox with a thermal rifle scope ... You've shocked the hell out of me ... If you can't see what it is you don't pull the trigger !
@260rips
@260rips Жыл бұрын
Can’t see it? Really? I know the true clarity of the image is as always reduced after it compressed so much on KZbin, but even on my phone watching it back I can still see the tails and ears on most of those foxes 🤷🏻‍♂️ Anyone that regularly uses thermal will tell you, the heat signature that is given off to generate the image is only part of identifying the animal. Body shape and movement traits are just as important. In this area the only creatures of this size you will find on the hill will be a badger, fox or hare. The first two cubs are clearly not hares by the way they move and not badgers because they are sat tall on their hind quarters and didn’t have the characteristic humped back of a badger. Badgers are generally brighter and always a lot shorter legged! I was also watching them for some time beforehand to identify them. These foxes were easy to identify partly as I was still using binos as it got darker but also remember you are only watching the actual moment the shot was taken, not the time spent viewing the creature beforehand.
