One of the most painful offensive productions I've seen out of an Iowa team, truly pathetic. Going to be another year where a great defense and special teams get wasted because Brian and the offense can't even score against an FCS opponent. The O-line looked worse, the run game was pitiful and Petras couldn't hit the broad side of a barn even when he had time. Not much we can do about it, we all saw how stubborn Kirk is being about Petras, most coaches would have let the other QB's have a shot but Kirk is going to ride or die with Petras until he gets injured again apparently. Brian needs to be fired too, this offense has consistently gotten worse the longer he's been the OC, and him now being the QB coach too is an absolute joke. I get South Dakota State is one of the best FCS teams but that's simply no excuse for playing so poorly on offense, our defense held them to 120 yards for crying out loud and the offense was supposed to be the strength of the SD team, not their defense, just shows how bad our offense is right now.

The offense looked worse than the Michigan game, we only had 166 yards in this game against South Dakota State and we had about 100 more yards than that in the big ten championship game. The defense and punt/coverage team looked great but once again the offense is a huge letdown. It was painful to watch.

Could someone please convince ferentz to put in Padilla he's so much more accurate passer than peterous and he knows when to run the ball himself when there is running room I'm so tired of mediocre quarterbacks at Iowa and Ferentz if you don't fix it now Iowa State will humiliate us next week and I don't even want to think of the rest of our opponents this year 4 years at quarterbacking and this is all peterous has learned not even and ounce of improvement time to replace him sorry just keeping it real.

@@hairtrigger8317 I respect your opionion but from what I seen he wasn't over throwing passes and he threw a few interceptions but over all he completed most of his passes and I really like the fact that he was more mobile throwing passes on the run he kinda confused opponents whether he was going to run the ball himself or throw down field we've just become so one dimensional at quarterback position it's always predictable when petras is going to hand off and pass that makes it to easy for defences to cover we need someone who can keep them off balance more and not know what to expect I believe Alex Paddila is this man Petra hasn't gotten any better since he started I'm just stating and obvious here and we need change at quarterback position now if we're going to win this year.

@@donaldcountryman7878 he was below 50% completion %, that's not completing most of your passes. I'd rather see Joey Labas tbh but that's even less likely to happen. Joey has the scrambling ability and better passing skills than both Petras and Padilla but he's young and inexperienced, Kirk would rather play a terrible QB with experience over one that has more upside but little experience. It is what it is, we are stuck with Petras barring an injury, that is the only reason Padilla got a chance last year and you could tell Kirk was looking for any reason to get Petras back in. The idea there was really a QB competition this off-season is a joke too, Kirk always knew it was Petrash Kirk should have let Padilla or Joey get a chance in the second half, the fact he didn't only reinforce's the idea that Petras was always going to be the starter and Kirk will die on the Petras hill

Consider that a decent Petras apparently had zero playmakers to work with.. a collapsing line.. and a punter, Iowa played ok ball, just don't seem to have the firepower this year which is disappointing. I always look forward to Iowa v PSU as a test of two solid teams. 10 punts... downed on 1,2, etc., and avg of 48 yards... you do have a million dollar man there anyway.

The entire offense was terrible, the line couldn't block, the run game never really got going and Petras would miss open receivers whether he had pressure or not. Kind of like last year the injuries on the offensive line have been an issue, there are already two guys out for the season and then the wide receivers have been hit hard too as Nico Ragaini and Keagan Johnson were both out for this game along with the starting running back Gavin Williams. Either way, there's no excuse for not being able to score a single touchdown on offense against an FCS opponent, even if it is one of the best FCS teams.

They couldn't muster anything more than a field goal and 2 safeties against a decent FCS team. 166 total yards (109 through the air and 57 on the ground). They couldn't cover an 11 point spread at home. I think it's fair to say that, given their week 1 performance, they are a bit overrated.
