In my experience the Spectralert Advances are actually not that much louder than most fire alarms. I think their obnoxious sound gives the illusion that they are louder!

I find the SpectrAlert Advance to be just as piercing as the Wheelock AS and the Simplex TrueAlert (specifically the multi-candela horn/strobe models).

The Wilhelm Scream of fire alarms! They are indeed really loud, but I also find the Wheelock AS and Simplex TrueAlert (specifically the conventional multi-candela horn/strobe versions) to be just as loud as the Advance.

I find the Gentex Commander 3 to be I think one of the Gentex ceiling alarms to be more persuasive, but then again not everyone reacts the same way.

Not all fire alarms are really loud it all depends on volume settings and it depends on the alarm type used

@@erikmorozov1740, yeah. The multi-candela TrueAlerts are about as loud as SpectrAlert Advances and Wheelock ASes on the "High" volume setting. The Walmart I used to work at had Advances EVERYWHERE, and on the sales floor they were indeed on "High" volume, but the Advances installed in smaller rooms like restrooms, offices and the employee lounge were thankfully set on "Low" volume.

this is basically the same system that my elementary school had, the two main differences is the Advances were red and the pull stations were notifier and they took a hex key to reset

I have to admit, system sensor's A/Vs were pretty good sounding. It's way less ear piercing than the modern EST Genesis. The truealert is also kinda chill compared to the Genesis.

Honestly the scarier the alarms the better, in a public system at least. The more shrill and ear piercing an alarm is, the quicker people will want to evacuate to get away from the noise. So really, as much as I enjoy the quieter and softer sounding alarms, particularly in hobby systems, it's important to have those shrill ones in public fire protection systems.

I agree until they turn yellow. My elementary school had white advances and some haves yellowed due to the building having a lot of windows and UV light. And the school is only 11 years old.

I like Spectralert classics more than I like the advanced because the classic is a lot quieter than the advance even though I didn't have a fire drill with the advance yet but I did have one with the spectacular classic 2 times! I'm 9 years old and I'm in the 4th grade

You know, I think these are one of the best Alarms to have, one of my personal favorites they are loud, and they are always a 💯 accurate and a good Safety Resource. I’ve witnessed these alarms in person and a ton, not only bouncing back from the hotels I’ve been staying at for hockey and school, but My HighSchool Has these Alarms but they are Notifiers with a Code 3 but a lot at the beginning of the school year, we have had a lot of false alarms and Accidents and Mis Functions within the building. But One day I’ll never forget I was eating Lunch in the Cafeteria with my friends and These alarms at ( Orba D. Tompkins Highschool in Katy Texas ), went off and we evacuated due to a Low water pressure system within the sprinklers. And we all thought it was a drill, but it was real and We stood outside in the heat for several minutes until the Fire Department came and told us we were clear to go back in , But overall a pretty cool experience but what I found strange was all the classrooms had Ceiling mounds, with a strobe of the Advance, but in the hallways the ceiling strobes had a horn and strobe, but in the hallways we had the advances set to code 3 and the outside alarms are red, with only the Horn itself, but I thought it was kinda cool to have the two colors, but thank you for posting this video, and showing me some more factual information of a system sensor, next time when I get a chance I’ll have to make a video of A Tompkins FireDrill🚨🔥

Spectralert Advances are very loud! Louder than most fire alarms out there! But these alarms aren't bad! In one of the elementary schools I went, it had a system full of Spectralert Advances. But most of the classrooms in the school didn't have a horn strobe. I think if the school wants to install a system full of the advances, they should not have a horn strobe inside the classroom. My high school has a system full of EST genesis and integrity, I personally think that EST has the best horn strobes. Actually wheelock's horn strobes are the loudest because some of their alarms exceed 100 decibels! This alarm generates 97 decibels! The Wheelock NS is the loudest fire alarm!

Yeah, I remember hearing that the alarms in the middle school I went to were literally so loud that the teachers asked the fire department to turn them down after the first fire drill the year they were installed. (This happened before my first year.) Apparently, they were all on high volume, which is for factories and other large buildings! They had to turn them down and write the letters LO on all of them. I caught a few that did not say LO, and refused to stand under them. The alarms were PC2w in most classrooms, hallways, and bathrooms (which shouldn’t have had horns but did,) P2Ws in the music room, gym, caftereia, and stairwell, SWs in smaller areas like closets, and P2Rs outside. (Of course, they were the outdoor model, which I forget the exact model of.) There was also a single white spectralert classic outside for some reason, next to the front doors.

Inside the school there a wall mounts outside of the school. There is the same p2r advanced on the roof. It’s just a strobe though but there are speakers no strobe and it’s really big with a rim on it so basically my school use a system sensor but notifier voice evac message

The indoor models of SpectrAlert Advance horn strobes are no longer being made anymore. S.E.R Safety's good representation of a fire alarm is the SpectrAlert Advance but for outdoor models because the outdoor models are still being made today. A good representation of an indoor fire alarm is the System Sensor L Series because it has the same horn as the SpectrAlert Advance did and its being made today.

These are not that loud. I remember I had them in my middle school (which I don't go to anymore). Now I believe the panel for the system was set to continuous because I had simplex true alerts there. But I think the advanced themselves were coded Temporal 3

I think the main reason why the spectralert is sorta hated and unique is because well, they're basically everywhere. Like every 2- maybe 5 buildings you'll system with these, or L-series which to me is just a redesign of the advance. But yeah, from hearing these alarms go off randomly for fire drills for pretty much a decade, I can say that I still like the look of these. Sorry for the long comment, but I did want to share my "opinion" on what I think of the advance a little.
