S.H. Monster Arts King Ghidorah Review

S.H. Monster Arts King Ghidorah!!!! King Ghidorah is another fantastic release in the S.H. Monster Arts Line. King Ghidorah has a fantastic sculpt, fantastic paint applications, good accessories and great articulation. This figure is fantastic, however as of right now I can not recommend this figure to absolutely everyone just yet. Currently there are several reports of near fatal QC issues. The biggest issue reported is the wings breaking. My advice is to buy this figure at your own risk due to the possibly of fatal QC concerns. In the end QC issues aside this figure is FANTASTIC.

I love SH Monster Arts but I have to agree with this vid and the posts about this one being way too delicate. I had an experience with a wing breaking just SECONDS out of the box, as a result of just trying to turn it slightly. As this vid says there is a wide range of articulation, but now I'm too scared to turn any joints. I just glued the wing and put it on display - I'm too scared to touch it now.

Although this comment was 7 years ago, I agree. I wish they fixed this figure. Even though they made a special color version, I'm not a fan of its color but they still fixed the issues. Wish there was an accurate articulated heisei king ghidorah that had better wings and plastic

I think it's still a gamble, even the reissue. The reissue might not be as much of a gamble.

Chances are the ones with with the most Q.C. issues were the ones available at the release date, the last ones probably didn't have as many problems given that Godzilla got a second edition which removed the beam effect but fixed the derpy eyes and it's the one i got, as far as i know ghidorah didn't get a second edition.

It's so sad how much of a disappointment this figure wound up becoming... But then again it can only be expected from such an enormous figure in general. Since MonstersArts is moving onto Showa next in line, I hope they've learned their lesson from this figure if they ever decide to make a Showa Incarnation of him...

If you heat the sculpt up with a blow dryer, you can pop ball joints back in easily. I had to do that with my SpaceGodzilla's hand.

Just so you know, THECRAZEBLING is just being sore because UltramanCronos refuses to unblock him. UltramanCronos (and a lot of other people, including me) gave him countless chances to stop constantly complaining about people blocking him, but he never stopped for very long. Cronos got tired of it (which is totally valid), so he has blocked THECRAZEBLING for good (having previously blocked and unblocked him a few times before).

reason why the middle head keeps on popping off because in the film godzilla vs. king ghidorah, godzilla fires his atomic beam at ghidorah's middle head off then after that near the end of the film they replace the missing head with a robotic head into the character mecha king ghidorah.

I was unaware with of the wing problem when i first got it, yet i still was not that rough with it. Also I had to return my second one because the middles head's ball joint would not go back in. it was out of the joint when i opened the box.

to answer your tail question, ***** , some of the video games they gave king ghidorah a tail attack sort of move, but in the movie i don't believe the tails were used in that manner. Great Vids and keep up the great work!!! I myself just purchased the 2014 monsterarts godzilla!

Ehmm.. I think the middle head is supposed to come off. My supporting reasons: 1. When you showed the ball join, it was colored redish I believe, and not just a random color. 2. In the movie, His middle head was destroyed by godzilla I believe. I have only seen it A LONG time ago, some i'm going off of how MKG is, with the robo head and all. Though having the head off in the package is not good.

Freaky, that's the issue I was referring to with my figure, the left wing is so loose that it sags, same side. Mine probably worse than yours, but yeah. I guess we all know now that left wing sag is another QC issue. Very sad, as I too love the figure, especially since he's my third fave Kaiju, After MechaGodzilla, and Godzilla himself at first spot. But yeah, here's hoping for a good quality reissue.

I was wondering if mine's loose left wing was a random occurrence or not. Thanks for confirming that there are widespread issues with the figure. Mine definitely has some issues in the wing like I mentioned. A loose swivel joint inside that causes the wing to droop at the slightest brush when spread out. And then there's an issue with the socket and portion of that torso being mis-molded where it's not flush with the the rest of the figure. Just have to wait on a re-issue for a better one.

Hey DiegoDoom, how are ya? I just wanted to let you know that I read on some website that S.H. Monsterarts mentioned that they would like to do other type of monsters from other movies. Thus, they have "a lot on their plate" when it comes to Godzilla. Hmmm, could we see a lot more Godzilla and other Godzilla monsters to come? Oh, there's a Biollante on the way too. This KG comes with many faults including loose joints in neck, tails and wings that if you look at them wrong break. Sometimes in one figure alone so yeah this figure sucks for the fucking price I mean how gullible are those that buy it, I mean your basically buying a broken "masterpiece". If your JUST suppose to let it stand still then why the hell are there so many fucking joints? Why not just call it a statue if your not to touch the wings or necks or tails then what can you move? Damn.

If you pay a premium price for a half ass figure then the customer is the idiot. But when reviewers praise the product and when it is obviously faulty and don't exclaim their point of the products fault and you the customer still buy it and get frustrated then your still the idiot. But reviews on big sites where many people watch including those in the industry will warrant the half ass work they do and like I said feel not obligated to fix said product. It's SUPPOSED to bend without pop off.

I hate that with every KG whom necks pop off the person reviewing says its a minor problem. It's not a minor problem since it supposedly is NOT to pop off. The inconvenience of having to pop it back in every time you pose it is not O.k. Now the problem with when reviewers say shit like "It's a minor issue no problem" then the producers of said product will probably half ass shit always and say "Oh well it's a minor problem they won't mind". Reviewers shouldn't half ass their reviews as well.

Remember the scene in the 1991 film, where Godzilla uses his heat ray to sever Ghidorah's middle head? Perhaps S.H. Monsterarts intends to release an accessory pack for this figure where you can swap out the middle head with a bloody stump and that could be why the joint is looser there? Glad that I watched this review before purchasing this figure, because while I still intend to buy it, I now know that I should be careful with it when it arrives. Great review, I especially like the intro ;)

In a way, the Center head's neck coming off COULD come in handy if you wanted to re-create the scene from GvsGK where Godzilla blasts Ghidorah's center head off. Would be even cooler if people could/would do some full-length fights with these figures in Stop Motion. XD Definitely something I want to try if I get enough figures. I hope they also do Mecha King Ghidorah and Final Wars Gigan. :3

I got my King Ghidorah about a week ago but I was afraid to open it, so when I finally did I found that the wings on mine didn't snap, though one is sagging and loose, but two of the heads came off and so did their necks, and part of one tail. I'm hoping that whenever I get Destoroyah he is better. Good review by the way! :D

You can apply crazy glue or nail polish to the ball joint let it set and then reattach if you do that move it around for about 10 minutes.The other thing you can do is use duct tape on the ball joint it will hold for a while(year or 2) but you will have to replace it.

To help with the joint warm up one end of it with say hot water and then slide the other end into it. that should take are of that head for you

the mouth of this figure also comes off easily. takes about 20 minutes to get beam effects situated the right way, but the figure does look spectacular once put together.

Its possible that the socket for the middle head is to small for the joint. The same thing happened with my 1st fire rodan but with his wing. Try using some hot water on it and expanding it or if you want. However you should not move it to much or it will fall out again
