The singer (Pálmi Gunnarsson) and the author of the song (Magnús Eiríksson) have been playing together for 45+ years as the band Mannakorn, Pálmi as the singer and the bassist and Magnús as the guitarist. This song was supposed to be on the band's 1985 album and this setup was their choice. But after the NF, the broadcaster took over and transformed the song towards more "victorious" formula, and according to Magnús' biography the song had turned into god damn disco song and he hated the Eurovision version.

I really don't know why it stands "94". The Icelandic National Final only had 10 contestants.

No, it seems the 1986 one had over 300 contestant

Back then Iceland’s number system started with 94 instead of 1. This was the first to perform.

I think what you need to understand is that this was the first time Iceland participated in this competition and it was a huge thing for us, we took it seriusly. Everyone is so serius because they are not in a concert but they are judges to find the most presentable song which could go and win the competition, which we believed we could do, and everyone in Iceland was watching, not a sole was outside. And also there was almost 300 songs to choose from.
