Sos Band is one of the greatest R&B Groups Of All Time. They are extremely underated. All their songs are straight 🔥, thanks in parts to Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis.

Not in part but mostly because of Jam & Lewis. The studio recordings were composed, arranged, and produced by Jam & Lewis. Even the studio keyboards were performed by Jimmy Jam. Mary Davis was the most prominent figure from the actual band in the studio. The band you heard on the recordings was more Jam & Lewis than the band.

Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam were killers in that era. Janet Jackson, SOS band, Alexander O'Neal, Cherrelle, an album for The Human League. They were at the top of their game. Try The SOS Band doing "Take Your Time", Alexander O'Neal and Cherrelle doing "Never Knew Love Like This", and The Human League doing "Human".

Jack, (as previosly stated) you're listening to the writing & production of former members of Prince's group "The Time" (keyboards = Jimmy Jam..............and bass =Terry Lewis) i.e. "Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis" with their signature sound that puts that "Bump" in the groove so well!......Prince fire them right when they had produced S.O.S. Band secretly in ATL, but got held up in a snow storm and missed an L.A. Time gig. Prince's policy was (don't produce outside acts) they did, got caught & fired, and it became the BEST mistake those two ever made! They went on to produce Janet Jackson and a ton of others, making them one of the successful producers in music history! (....thank you Prince! lol) Anyway, Good reaction! (pls forgive the typos, lol)

Also was wonderful that Jimmy and Terry reached back out to Alexander O'Oneal to write & produce for him. Remember Prince fired Alex - when 2 Minneapolis bands were combined to form The Time. Morris was a friend of Prince's and the new band already had a lead singer (Alex) and a drummer (Jesse) so Morris had no position...until Alex ask about the money they would earn. Prince said to Jimmy & crew that they had to fire Alex...in order to get the record deal he had acquired (& the music he wrote) for the new band The Time. So Alex can thank Jimmy & Terry for giving him a chance at a music career again.❤
