S.Savelieva VS M.Khoreva. One of the hardest comparisons!

Maria is a stronger and naturally dancer, I think she's one of that talents that the world of ballet can only see a few times in a decade or maybe more. Her talent is not questionable because has a great control, her body is one in a million, born to be a prima ballerina. Now, once that I said that, in my personal perspective, I love more Svetlana. I think she's more genuine and gracious in her dance. It's more charismatic and i really enjoy watching her dance and performing roles. The world of ballet is very rough and competitive, but I think there is room for both because I would love to see them succeed as soloists. Time will tell, but I will continue follow their careers. That's my personal opinion.

Svetlana Savelieva is a lovely dancer. Her arms are one of her strengths. She is a year behind Maria Khoreva and not sufficiently developed to predict her outcome. Maria Khoreva is a once-in-a-lifetime dancer with astonishingly beautiful talent for her age. The level of her talent has been evident for quite sometime. She has already, very deservedly, been promoted to a First Soloist at the Mariinsky, after just graduating from the Vaganova Academy in 2018.

I think it's unfair to judge girls who are in different grades. Even so, they are very strong in technique and good for their levels. That being said, while they are both graceful and expressive, there's something particularly charismatic about Khoreva that draws me to her dancing, even when she's not in the lead role. Savelieva has great musicality, which I admire in a dancer. But I'd have to choose Khoreva.

They are both physically different and have a different dance style even though they are both VBA trained. My vote is for Khoreva even though I've seen more of Savelieva on KZbin. Savelieva has a beautiful face but I've always felt she tries too hard and needs more depth to her performing or risks coming across as a pretty little thing with slightly wooden dancing. Perhaps maturity and experience will add more dimension to her dancing? Khoreva drew me from the first time I saw her, she is more lyrical and soulful in her performance and is technically more proficient. I wish them both success in their future.

I understand this is an unpopular opinion, Svetlana is light years above Khoreva in terms of proper placement and technique. Nikolai Maximovich (director of VBA) has always taken a special liking to Sveta, giving her awards and such. While he always looked over Khoreva, to which I would agree with. Khoreva has Prima like charisma and charm, however she has admitted to not having strong placement, such as having weak turnout, a swayed back, etc. Svetlana has correct placement among her dancing. She is a splitting image of Ulyana Lopatkina, Svetlana is far much better in my eyes

As some people have just said, I think it's a little unfair to judge which one is the better online because the only thing i am afraid is that it might affect and influence them. If this is not going to happen, I don't see any problem. However, I think that they're both very talented dancers, but if i have to choose i'll for sure vote for Masha Khoreva. Her technique is perfect,breathtaking, her musicality is great and she gives much of her personality and feelings to the ballet and performances themselves. On the other hand, i think that Savelieva has a very good technique but not a strong personality and neither strength in general. But this is my personal opinion...

Both dancers are very accomplished I find, and have quite different qualities, so quite difficult to compare. I would choose Maria for her fulsome, abundant quality, I think it comes from her inate musicality, a joy to behold.

Khoreva by a long way is best in my opinion, but have several problems with this video. Firstly, I do not like direct comparisons between young dancers who are still training and who are, as Cam Jaeger says below, in different grades. Secondly, the excerpts shown are too short and on the whole too badly filmed to make an opinion. Thirdly, the pieces shown do not show each dancer off fairly - Khoreva in the doll dance from Nutcracker? Having said all that, I have watched enough of both these girls to think that Khoreva is much better. Khoreva has a soulful, spiritual quality to her dancing that Savalieva lacks. She has grace, technique, musicality and presence. I don't find Savalieva particularly musical, or expressive, although I like her elegant physique. But then - I like Khoreva's physique also.

Mostly each of them offers beauty to dance world in many unique ways. This is not competition (sport). It is pure ART. Hola. Maria tiene uno de esos cuerpos únicos y raros para la danza, de esos de 1 en un millón. Esos cuerpos que pueden hacer lo que sea más fácilmente ojo, no es fácil aún teniendo la facilidad, lo que quiero decir es que hay estructuras físicas más favorecedoras para los movimientos, hay gente que trabaja dos semanas para lograr un movimiento perfecto y hay gente que su cuerpo entiende al instante lo que debe de hacer, su talento no es cuestionable y llegará muy rápido a prima ballerina. Marianna, after carefully studying this video under a microscope, I must give, (A Thumbs Up!) for Svetlana Savelieva as she has every cc's of her Stature to be a perfect figure of perfection and beauty that one will ever find in Classical Ballet dancer on stage! I always check the ballet dancers in finite detail! As my profession has always been to scientifically measure every of the smallest facts to classify ones attributes and beauty. BING! I think it's wrong to compare two gifted ballerinas. One a little more advanced than the other. Also, keep in mind that no two people are ever alike. Each has different strengths and abilities. What might seem apparent now, might be a completely different thing a few years down the line. Comparing two people with each other can also be a very soul-killing experience for either. I would rather appreciate the strength and qualities in each and give them the freedom to develop according to their own best potential. They are both equally good.

They are completely different. Maria began as a gymnast and has the strength of a modern woman along with her technical proficiency and excellent artistry. She is a wonderful professional ballerina/performer. Svetlana is pure beauty, softness, delicacy, elegance, etc. She is different from the modern girls. Sure, she's a great dancer with an incredible body, but you watch her for her soft loveliness that takes you away from reality and the modern world. Her performance ability is not as important to me as her "differentness/softness".

Can't compare the two. Honestly I have no idea why Savelieva is top of her class. Every performance I have seen of her, she has made several mistakes.. not just little ones but major ones where people's hearts will drop just by watching her.... Not saying she is a terrible dancer but at the same time, I think credits people give her are too much.

In my opinion,Svetlana is a great dancer. She has perfect lines,and the ideal body for a ballerina in general.But I do think that she needs to work more on her stress.She's always anxious in her performances,which is completely normal and understandable as she is still a young dancer,but the bad thing is that her stress leads to major mistakes. Anyway,I believe in Svetlana,she has a great future ahead. I'm sure she'll make it through and will become one of the best ballerinas in a few years!

Both have the same training. Mariinsky usually pick girls with big extensions and arc feet, that's why MK is already a soloist. She'll be principal in no time.

I would like to see them performing same variations under the same music and if they have some years of difference that would make a big difference. Within a year one can polish movements, become more artistic, develope longer balancing and improve greatly technique. I would like a fair comparing between two ballerinas who are same age, same amount of experience, dancing same variations under the same music. Other wise the comparing is more subjective than realistic. By the way they both have their unique strengths and areas for development and both are such a great ballerinas with lots of potential for growth.

Somebody once wrote that Svetlana's face freaks her out. I can totally relate, though I can't put my finger on it. Somehow her expression is kind of arrogant (she might be a lovely person, I don't know that), but I don't enjoy watching her. Maria's physique is a little bit too frail for my taste, but she has incredible extensions, passion and artistry and I prefer her by far.

I'm not a ballet expert, but have spent a lifetime in classical music as a musician, teacher, and broadcaster. I've found a new passion with and for ballet since I discovered so much of it on KZbin. I've seen the best, the gifted possibles, and the students, which is a delightful thing to watch and appreciate. The love of dance and dedication in the ballet world is inspiring. From the 1960s to today, the range of talent is breathtaking, and I see near-miracles of performance almost every day. It's not really fair to try and pick a "best" dancer, because - as I see in this video - moments of joyous brilliance occur in both dancers. Costume, makeup, and staging varies along with the dancers. On a "good day" one might be better than the other, and within the context of one specific performance, as a viewer, I'm sure I would be likely to see either one of these beauties deliver a phenomenal and exhilarating experience for us audience members. Both of you dancers deserve plaudits and honors for your art and your heart. Brava!

Maria Khoreva is an extraordinarily talent especially at your very young age. Savelieva is more like a number of exceedingly talented young dancers who have potential in the future to become an artist or remain a technician. It took me a long time to decide about Khoreva with a gorgeous dancer’s body, beautiful face and astonishing technique. I wasn’t sure if she was just great at adding in the mannerisms to make her look convincing or if she is the “real deal.” I think she is a superb talent. Her physicality and technique put everything within her reach. She dancers maturely for her age - like a fully formed artist. Not sure she’d be right for Giselle yet, or even full length Swan Lake. But she is the one to watch for sure.
