Not all dialogues in this video have been translated. For NPCs, the content of conversations changes depending on the rank. Novices cheerfully share plans for life, can tell about some adventures and tell jokes badly, and they are often asked to stop joking. Veterans, on the contrary, are depressed, and complain about life all the time. And this applies not only to singles, but to all factions.

@@LordVader1094 Each faction has its own small set of original jokes and a lot of retold ones. It turns out to be the effect of a damaged phone. Sometimes a joke is retold in such a way that all meaning is lost. For example, Svoboda’s original joke about bricks and zombies, but the soldiers of Duty retell it not funny. Completely original jokes are not retold by other factions. For example, a joke by bandits about bloodsuckers on the side of the road. Or the military about the new colonel in the unit.

Well, actually, this thing is only unique to Shadow of Chernobyl. Stalker novices there are technically unique class of characters - that's why they have completely different voice set. The other two voice sets for Loners are almost identical (though an "experienced" set has some unique lines about their family life and post-stalker future life)

Зона и в игре и в жизни это страшные места, но страшнее зоны большая земля. Без мутантов и аномалий и прочий нечисти. Почему? Потому что в зоне человек видит окружающий его мир. I forget what it’s called but it’s basically when someone is in an extremely stressful situation, instead of expressing it like most other people do (venting openly about it), they reassure to themselves that everything will be alright. 2:03 befriended a stalker same as him in the Cordon today. His name is Guest. I was coming from Garbage dealing with some bandits as part of my job. At the checkpoint I found this guy and he told me exactly the same thing that the army assholes took most of his money and his loot so we agreed to tag along till we reach rookie village. But obviously we had to pass thru the army guys. We took position at the left side of the bridge and attacked them. After quite some time of firefight they all were killed. We looted their bodies and reached the village without any hiccups. It was like midnight so I said my goodbyes to him and went to sleep. He isn't around at the village anymore so my guess is he left early in the morning or maybe during the nighttime as their was adequate moonlight to light the road. Hope I get to meet him again. Stay safe Guest.

@@GldnClaw If you wanted to, you could consider it cannon. With the way anomalies work, who's the say there isn't some sort of multiverse anomaly that consumes the entire zone? Every single time someone dies, their consciousness continues in another universe where the exact same situation occurs, but with differences. Now consider that you may die multiple times in the same location, in the same way, but with ever so slight nuances, and now you realize that would mean there's probably an infinite number of multiverses. So I don't know if you could say we play the "luckiest" iteration, but we certainly play the iteration where we survive. Luck isn't a constant because in some play throughs you may find better or worse equipment.

Most of them very expressive and even has a diffrent meanings, depends on context and intonation. Good job anyways. And a respect for ukranian writers who wrote this phrases. To be fair, it's about the time of practicing. If you really want to achieve progress, start trying to think on the language. Like even the most primitive thing: naming the objects you're looking at. Like: a book, a table, a desktop, a shelf, a cooking pot, an apple. And online gaming with good foreigners can really boost your submersion and learning speed. Just remember "speaking/knowing goodly" has little in common with "nativeness".

In 2014 I knew basically nothing in English, from memory I think I only knew how to say thank you, but with time, mainly typing a lot in multiplayer games, watching youtube videos, playing Fallout 3 and New Vegas (you have labels for stuff you'd find like a wardrobe, cupboard etc, and a lot of dialogue with npcs) and watching content with english subtitles (if there was a word that I didn't know how to write and/or what it meant I'd google the meaning, and little by little I improved, in writing ofcourse, I'm not a very talkative person, so me speaking in English is gonna be rough around the edges.

I can't tell you how much I wish they would have added subtitles for these conversations. I can forgive it in SoC, but by CoP they really should have added something in that direction. Took me awhile to ignore that I had no idea what most people around me were talking about- which of course meant ignoring the ambient conversations altogether. I know making a mod for this would be a uniquely annoying task, but honestly even semi-accurate subs would be preferable to none at all. I have to imagine the lack of any ambient closed captions would dampen the experience someone with a hearing impairment would have with the game also.

@@worldoftancraft Either way would be fine tbh. Obviously the more accurate the translation (meaning translated to make sense I English as opposed to verbatim translation of each word out of context), but even subtitles that are totally wrong a quarter of the time would be preferable to nothing at all

Непереведенная болтовня сталкеров в английской версии это огромное упущение. ну как можно было так сделать? это же огромная часть атмосферы игры The untranslated chatter of stalkers in the English version is a huge omission. the only thing that doesent make any sence about "free stalkers" is that they are called "free stalkers" we know they are not free, they work for certain traders and other "popular" individuals in the zone, but I also understand that calling them mercenaries would be confusing.
@GeneralTantzu
@GeneralTantzu 2 жыл бұрын
I think Free Stalker just means they don't belong in any of the bigger Stalker clans like Duty or Freedom. Loners makes more sense, since they are a mixed bag of individuals with no real command structure or relations.
@tezwoacz

@@GeneralTantzu well there is a command structure, the "traders" they work for, I guess most likely explanation is that the name of the faction just stuck from the original game build where it might have been something else.
