S.T. Dupont Line D Guilloche Aquamarine

Many years ago I had a ST DuPont pen and I absolutely loved it! It mysteriously disappeared out of my purse in a mall! I was so hurt it was years before I any pen! Once I recovered and started collecting again, the ST DuPont has been my grail pen! I can’t decide on the color but for my birthday in December I’m going to take a second leap!

Totally love your review! Immaculately done. You are as beautiful as that gorgeous pen there and please use it in good health. I have 3 of these in Line Ds and can surely say this is my best writer amongst many premium brands...the Blue Saphhire one is what I got. The other two are Golden Hour and the LE Da Vinci. By the way, huge congratulations on pronouncing Dupont correctly with the T silent. Truly French way of saying it

First of all, I beg to differ: you ARE cool and your videos are always fun! Hope sinuses clear up & you feel better soon! Beautiful pen & I love the color! Also love the history lesson. S.T. Dupont has definitely been one of those intriguing brands I've wanted to know more about; Albeit lovely, might be a little too heavy for me though.🤔 I've had carpal tunnel and, even after surgery, I can totally feel the discomfort plus I'm a death-gripper too so this one might not make it to the wish list but who knows...🤷🏻‍♀️ Uh....yeah. Our weather's been kinda nuts. Hail & tornadoes. Mother Nature' s keeping us on our toes I guess.☺️

Awe man, that stinks about the carpel tunnel, but knowing your limits is key, especially when spending money. I would be heartbroken if I couldn't use something I paid a premium for since my pens aren't just for looking at. Ya know? Speaking of the weather...I'm highly confused by today; I thought we were going to cool down for a few days...but nope! 😂

Love that color and the enamel over brass is so pretty. I worry about weight (I like Sailor Pro Gears which are pretty light). Definitely something to try out in a shop or, like you did, at a pen show. Did it not come with a converter though? For that much money I would have expected a “branded” international converter. Let us know. As always, I really enjoy your videos and your humor. Saw the Hits and Misses and I’m glad to see that you were feeling better then.

Also, I totally get you and agree about converters vs. pistons. Having in capacity for days is not so important when I’m just going to be fickle with my ink choices anyway!

Thanks so much, Ben. ❤️ And I think it was supposed to come with a converter, but they gave it to me in a box for a rollerball, so I have a really awesome rollerball cartridge ...but no rollerball pen to put it in. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Thanks for the interesting video. The history of the company is fascinating. I've been ignoring this brand entirely because I don't like metal grips, but now you've piqued my interest. I agree with you about cartridge/converter pens -- they are more convenient and I don't need every expensive pen to be a piston filler. My obstacle here would be the price -- there are other lovely pens in ths price range and if I could only have one, it would be hard not choose a Pelikan, a Scribo, or a Sailor KOP. But I will definitely try an S.T. Dupont if i get the chance.

Did your ST DuPont really not come with a converter?? I’ve always gotten converters with mine. 😢 I have a few ST DuPonts, and I really love all of them. I find their nib quality to be excellent, although I do typically get mine ground to be a little bit finer than their typical EF. My only issue is that the snap cap typically results in my ink not lasting as long in the converter as I’d expect and occasionally becoming very saturated. I’d be interested to hear if you find that too as you continue to write with your new pen! ☺️

I think my pen came in a rollerball box because the underneath compartment has a rollerball refill in it. 😂 Not a big deal - I have plenty of converters. I'll keep you posted on the ink with the slip cap - - honestly, I find that most of my converter pens have this issue especially if I keep them inked for a long time. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve been considering a guilloché fountain pen by S.T. Dupont for a few years. My issue (definitely a me problem) is that I fall down the guilloché rabbit hole, as it’s a fascinating process. By the time I make a decision on pattern and enamel, the pen is out of stock. Each time, I am a little closer to making it happen. Now, I realize it’s impossible to make a wrong choice and more a matter of right timing. 💎🕳️🐇

OMG, that was me with this pen. I was waffling between aquamarine and the amethyst. I just decided to go with the aquamarine and I can always get it a friend later. 😂 (I'm so bad, I know! 😅)

Nice pen? Yes, nice color in fine laquered body. But not worth the price. Unlike the old Duponts of 20-30 years ago, where form followed function and not the other way round, and nib performance was a primary concern of the brand. In today's model we have: - Grip section from chromed shiny metal that tappers down quite a lot. That guarantees it will get slippery after a short while. - Nib performance poor. From the pictures, this is a gusher, on par with modern chinese models. They no longer bother to tune it like they did in the past. Ok, they ensure to make the metal plate of the nib extremely thin so they can save a few miligrams of gold. (Like most top pen-makers do nowadays. They call it 'soft nibs'. What they really mean is big price, thin gold). - The band in the body ridiculously broad. Houses an overstated brand label floating around. Looks like an unpaid comercial in the hand of the customer. Or maybe they are afraid modern users cannot figure out the maker's name otherwise? All in all, a sad evolution of such a great brand and pen maker.

Would you believe that I finally decided on the ST DuPont Line D Guilloché in the 14K nib and amber lacquer? To be honest, it was the first Line D that grabbed my attention, and it crosses my mind frequently enough to know (as Mick Jagger says) You will be mine, You will be mine, all mine…coming to my emotional rescue. 🛟 On a serious note you were on my mind, and I wanted to check in to make sure everything is okay.
