Ah the PPSh41! I remember having bought it (the ARES version, back then S&T did not exist) back in 2010. As crazy as it might sound it was my first AEG ever. I have played dozens of games with it since I first bought it. Heavy and cumbersome. Believe me after all these games, I haven't figured out what was the proper way to handle it with the weak hand. The thing is, it is so heavy and un-ergonomic, and you always switch from holding the gun by the mag, the barrel shroud or between the trigger gard and the mag. The most comfortable position is to use when still, is kneeling, weak hand supporting the magazine, and the elbow resting on the knee. The best investment you can do with this gun is a good 2 point sling (AK type). Your arms will thank you at the end of the day. The magazine is noisy as hell, and gets wobbly with the time. It can cause misfeed with time. Stock accuracy and range are so so. The first component I would suggest to change is the hop-up. The firing response time is not that great either. And unfortunately most of the pieces and the gearbox are proprietary. That being said, It's a sturdy gun externally (takes the rain, the snow and the mud), it's a super effective in full-auto, simple to use. And it gets the attention of everybody during the day. In a world dominated by extra-tuned and generic M4's, this gun says "Hey ya mothafuckas I don't need bullshit flashlights nor fookin laser sights". It's kinda badass when equipped with a nice WWII/cold war era suite. Mine is now rusty and full of scratches, covered with dust in my garage. But I hope you will enjoy playing it as much as I did it's a great gun because kinda it's hard to play with. Your video brought back so many good memories of my student times and my first games...

this weapons fire rate is so ubsurd that the barrel would heat up. the vents would help but would still be to hot. your forward must hand should hold the side of the drum.
@mirek_k4 жыл бұрын
Hi, I must inform you that the real steel ppsh 41 has about the same rate of fire as this airsoft version (cca 900 rounds/min) and yes it does heat up quite significantly but since there are no wooden parts near the barrel it doesn´t matter. watch this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2PUdZKGZpWjl6M

Once more a wonderful review. I might be wrong but holding it by the mag in the real steel was to help support how heavy the drum was fully loaded, it was not meant for long ranges but could be if you were a really good shot. I look forward to your next video Mike.
@MrCK-bg7xh6 жыл бұрын
TheWanderingMaster you held it by the mag because it was really front heavy and the barrel would heat up. Also unlike the Thompson there isn’t a hand-guard on the barrel as you can see. The iron sights can only be adjusted for up to 200 meters. It was issued to Russian Assault infantry and the Germans preferred it as it was a simpler design.
@VoidedEmptiness6 жыл бұрын
Airsoft Mike, I would believe you are correct about how to hold the PPSH-41 with both hands for if the gun does overheat, holding that barrel as the real steel version, you would burn your hand.

@michaelasplin4257 жыл бұрын
Because the the insane rate of fire, the barrel used to get really hot, hence the ventilation ports on the rectangular barrel section. To prevent from burning your hands, they would hold the magazine

I'd strip it down and take a buffing pad to all the steel. It's the right colour, but it needs a bit more of a sheen. Then I'd mix some red and brown enamel paint and dry brush it on a bit to mimic rust spots. The woods fine. I'd just let that weather naturally, and apply a little boiled linseed after each day in the field. That'd do it.

I understand completely what you're talking about at the beginning of this video. I'm interested in the technology that can be used to wage war while i'm a pacifist. I think it's due to my interest in advanced technology and more often than not weapons represent the pinnacle of many technologies. So while i detest the harm people do to each other and the way drone-warfare and airstrikes has become ubiquitous these days, the technology used in making bombs hit that accurately is impressive.
@1336u3 жыл бұрын
same i love the engineering and history behind it there probably has been no other technology so prevelant and consistently built upon by humans than firearms, plus i think the power and confidence for the everyday person to be able to defend themselves is great, the feeling of safety that comes with owning and caring and being proficient with a firearm is irreplaceable

the reason you might not want to hold a real ppsh41 by the barrel shroud is because it will eventually heat up with use. If it's really cold outside and you have gloves than it would probably be fine for a while, so long as you're not using it heavily. Once you've but a couple hundred rounds thru it, however, I'd probably rather be holding it by the magazine, especially without gloves and during the summer.

That worked for two more games then broke again. The wiring in it just completely died and i couldnt get it running again. I trashed the whole thing because i didnt want to waste any more money. When it did work, it was amazing. Good range, good rate of fire and I filled the role of support gunner and destroyed almost the whole team by myself. My experience was bad so dont let me sway your opinion.
