I am a Japan person in my 40s. When I was a child, I told my grandfather that Japan people are not non-religious. I have been taught that living as a Japan person, that is, this is religion. I think what was said in this video is what my grandfather was saying. By the way, the meaning of ITADAKIMASU that my grandfather said is that I will take your life so that I can live one day today. Thank you for giving me one day of life today. It means that. Know the weight of life and never forget to be grateful. That's why it's a word you should say every time you eat.

In my personal opinion, Shinto prays for a rich harvest and the prosperity of descendants in order to realize a safe and secure society. Buddhism has preached a method of training for the growth of individuals as human beings. In other words, Shinto is for the ``public'' and Buddhism is for the ``private'' growth and development.
In Japan, Shintoism and Buddhism are intermingled, and Shinto/Buddhism syncretism is the basis of progress. Therefore, the sense of religion in Japan may seem a bit confusing. However, this religion has been around for more than 1,500 years and is deeply rooted in the lives of the Japanese people. On New Year's Day, people go to shrines to greet the gods, and on New Year's Eve they go to temples to purify their vexations. Our basic approach is to treat non-human beings with awe and reverence. This is not to deny all religions, but to respect all religions and all people living in all countries.

Dear Teri-chan, I'm Japanese, and i think, our religion came/mixed by Shinto and Buddhism. as you know, Shinto comes based on primitive animism, so Japanese think "八百万の神々", that means everything this world, we have God. the other hands, Buddhism comes from China or India. this religion also contains many "Gods". so, still we think, and parents teach their kids "誰も見てなくてもお天道様は見ている", and other as their parents teach them.
Japanese Shinto is a unique religion that also mixes Judaism, Christianity, and other religions. It is also a very mysterious religion, as Shinto's Jindai script (ancient Japanese script) was used to decipher the ancient Sumerian script. Learning more about Shinto is very interesting and fascinating.
Japan has not had a religious war for 2,600 years. Christian monotheism has always been at war. God would not want this to happen. Japan is peaceful. I think this is because there is intelligence and respect that recognizes all ethnic groups and all religions.
