Everyone, PLEASE subscribe to my channel, and all of the other gun channels right away. KZbin is trying to silence the gun community, and push their own political agendas. There is strength in numbers, and this is the only way we can be heard; together. Thanks for your support.

I had one of these. I traded it for a dirtbike, that I sold, and bought welding equipment. I wish I still had the gun, but I'm a certified welder now and love welding. Funny how that worked out. Dirtbikes are kickass too.

My grandfather's favorite gun, I remember when he bought it, Fred's guns in Kansas City late 80's.

The Smith & Wesson 686-4 is one of the very best revolvers Smith & Wesson ever produced..

I really love this one...

I can relate 100% with your obvious affinity towards the S&W revolvers. I share the same attitude. Nice balance of range footage and bench admiration.

Thanks! They sure are a thing of beauty.

The model 19 k carry comp by the performance center is a must have little workhorse.

The first gun I bought happened to be one these. Nice to know its the old construction type. 686-4 4" 7 shot.

The 686+ is my favorite handgun of all time period. That being said 99% of the time I carry a Gen4 Glock 19. I guess because it's so easy to conceal, weighs nothin' and holds a bunch of bang👍🇺🇸
@ConcealedSteel5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have more fun shooting these old revolvers for sure, but also carry a Gen 4 19 or a 43 sometimes. 9mm Glocks are just tough to beat for carry guns IMO.
@maddmason95205 жыл бұрын
Same here. G19 for carry, but 686 is my favorite.

How much is this gun worth today or how much will one cost today?Thanks

Not exactly sure, gunbroker auctions would give you a good idea of what people are willing to pay.

@@ConcealedSteel I don't see 686-4 plus on there
@ConcealedSteel2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I'm guessing that there aren't a ton of these in circulation. If you can find one, I wouldn't hesitate. From what I understand these were made during the transition period when the hammer mounted firing pins were getting phased out, and they started with the 7 shot cylinders.

@@ConcealedSteel yeah i think 1996 year

Yes they do. Speed Beez 7 round speedloader. No turning the release knob, push to release. Territic.

What's better 6 or 7 shot?

I prefer 7, more is better.

You didn't pull the hammer back one time. Next time show the gun more.

Nice piece. I was lucky to snag one myself. Mine is a 6” -4 7rd and I believe mine is a 96 new old stock (it had burn rings on every other chamber). These variants are a little hard to come by but every now and then one pops up on gunbroker. Great video 👍

586 was discontinued in 1999 581 and 681 discontinued in 1988. 686 never ceased production. The dash 5 went to MIM parts and hammer mounted firing pin. The -6 added the Hillary hole. Your -4 is a sought after model now a days.
@ConcealedSteel5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Do you have a source for the actual production dates for the 686 showing continued production? All I could find was Wikipedia which referenced a pause in production (which is obviously not the gospel).
@davidbliss32205 жыл бұрын
The smith and Wesson standard catalog. It’s the Bible for all smiths. If you are into these types of guns I suggest picking it up. You won’t be disappointed. It shows 686 production 1980-present.

im lucky to have access to a 686-4 revolver. my dad bought it new in the ‘90s and it has sat in a case about that long. he told me i put more round through it one day than the gun ever had at a time. i only went with 3 boxes haha. In conclusion, my parents are not firearm enthusiasts and i reap the benefits! take care all.

What is the difference between s&w 686 and 686 plus?
@ConcealedSteel4 жыл бұрын
The big difference is that a 686 plus has a 7 round cylinder where a standard 686 is a 6 round. There are small differences due to the capacity like thickness of the cylinder walls and the mechanics behind the trigger pull, but I don't believe that these really make any difference.
