Sanchez actually returned in season 6. He apologized to the team for his actions, and they accepted. And at one of the ending scenes of the Season 6 finale, Deacon asked Sanchez if he wanted to be his partner, and he accepted the offer

did anyone find it weird by the writers to allow Sanchez to leave that door open to get caught telling stories after all the noise he made on behalf of the brass. also it took 3 episodes after Hondo returns from Mexico to. be seen with Nichelle without any I'm back scenes, etc 🤷
