Smith & Wesson revolvers are so classic. My father passed away & he was not a gun fanatic but worked security after he came home from WW2. Worked walking around the Montgomery Ward warehouse in Chicago for awhile before settling in his profession. An officer stopped by as he was doing his walkaround asked my father what he was carrying. " Nothing " was my fathers reply & the Officer told him he was crazy for not carrying. So he sold dad his backup gun a S & W , I Frame 32 caliber long revolver with a 3 inch barrel. Original box / warranty card / manual with a bore brush. Looking at the warranty card its from April 1955. It was hard to find those S & W 32 caliber longs but a gun shop in Florida had some 50 round boxes. Now I can't wait to try out that little I Frame 6 shot revolver. It looks like very few rounds were fired from it so its in great shape after all these years not even knowing my dad still had this gun from so many years back until going thru his personal estate items.

One of the more famous M frames was the original "Ladysmith" .22 After introducing the .22 on the "J" frame (.32 frame) and calling it the .22/32 originally, the M frame was dropped. Super, and may I add how much the "500" made me a believer. After I'd finished my data collection for the day I wandered along the firing line until at the last bench @ 100 yards I saw a scoped, 8"+ S&W but I knew it was larger than an "N". He was kind, letting me fire at his target where I clearly saw three holes; vertically approximately 2 1/2 spread. No horizontal variation. My shot landed atop his! The recoil impulse was much more tolerable than my handloads for my "44" Mag. SuperBlackhawk, and I was sold! S&W got everything right, I would be totally happy putting 100 rounds downrange in an hour, no problem, and no exaggeration. Gain-twist, rifleing, 8"+ barrel with porting, on an X frame, it all works plus the Leopold scope to make the 100 yard bench's now a place where any handgunner is welcome !

I used to own an Ivor Johnson single action "six shooter" years ago while stationed in Arizona and had so much fun with it out in the desert. Another gun I liked but scared the crap out of me was my Ruger Blackhawk 44...way too much fire power for me. Presently I have a Ruger LCP 380, second generation, and pack it when I go camping and/or backpacking. Now I would like to replace that Ivor Johnson with a similar weapon and the Smith & Wesson models, K and L, seem to be possibilities. Your channel offers so much knowledge and you, sir, inject the fun factor by actually firing every weapon you handle. I love and appreciate that as it gives me a good idea about the "feel" of each weapon, velocities, decibels and so on. It's helpful towards my selection of a handgun that would suit my needs. Very good shooting with that single action. Dad bought a 357 mag after WW 2. He couldn't afford the rounds so he ordered a 22 with a 6" barrel and with the K frame . No difference in weight or feel. He squirrel hunted with the 22 and he never missed. He only shot one box through the 357 but if he had to he wouldn't miss anything bigger than a squirrel. The K frame 22 is a six shooter. I think the 357 had a 4 or 5 inch barrel. He always cocked before he shot. Again I'm very impressed with your shooting. I didn't inherit his abilities and can't hit with any hand guns ,but got lucky at a range one day with an old 1911. 😎

The 38 Special N-frame was known as the 38-44 "Heavy Duty" or "Outdoorsman"(with the difference being that the HD has fixed sights and the Outdoorsman has target sights). These guns became the model 20 and model 23, respectively. The 38-44 designation refers to it being a 38 special gun on a 44 sized frame. These guns predated the 357 magnum cartridge by a couple of years, and were advertised for use with "high speed" 38-44 ammunition. This was loaded to much higher pressure than modern 38 special +P, and would give ~1200 fps with a 158gr bullet out of a 5" barrel. I've seen articles written by Elmer Keith and others containing load data that duplicates this sort of performance, but will avoid repeating it here.

I really appreciate your videos. I had a friend give me a S&W .357 k-frame, so I was looking for information on them and have watched several of your videos. I appreciate it very much!

Have to love Hickok... doing a S&W video wearing a Glock cap and a Springfield shirt. He supports anything related to firearms.

My dream is to shoot a revolver. Any good first revolver to shoot? I am not a big fan of the small barrels. But nothing as big as the X. I don't think I could take shooting it.

+AnotherBlondeBillman Any good mid-size .38 Special would be a good choice, or a mid-size .357 Magnum that would be more versatile.
