Good God, this gun does things for me....things I won't talk about, it's sexy anyway. I doubt I could afford it. I only have a few old guns, one being my dad's old S&W Model 19-3 all blued with black soft rubber grip. Has a 4 inch barrel, and I began training with it, because I wanted to learn to be lethal/proficient with a magnum and .44 is too much for my skinny ass wrists. I can knock the eye out of a charging bull with it (or probably a Grizzly if I don't sht myself first), but I don't run much .38 through it, because I wanted to be lethal with. 357 specifically. I heard the .357 rounds can crack the cone (I can't remember if that's the correct term for it "the cone" which is just where the business end of the cylinder meets the female (Lol) end of the barrel.) I haven't had any problems with anything like that, although I would love to have it re-blued as the areas where it was laid commonly have faded the bluing on it which sucks, but it is sentimental.

This pistol always amazed me. It runs wadcutters but one of my carry guns can't feed some brands of 9mm HP ammo. Just the really pointy stuff runs.

I used to own the Colt National Match Mid Range semi auto in .38 spl wadcutter which was a contemporary of your pistol. It was much more accurate than I was!!

A shooting buddy of mine had one back in the day, so I'm very familiar with it. Great shooter and very accurate. I was shooting 3 gun bullseye matches at the time and thought really hard about getting one for the centerfire round. I ended up using my Gold Cup .45 for both the centerfire and .45 rounds. The thought of working up another match load and then loading all the rounds I'd need in another caliber made me tired. 🙂 Even back then - mid '80s - late 90's they were expensive new and fairly scarce used. Still, I wish I'd picked one up then. I think they were discontinued sometime in the '90s.

I kind of figured that you couldn't get more than a limited number of rounds to function reliably in a mag with a rimmed cartridge. The mag has to be very specialized to stack the rims of the rounds and function right so they don't catch on each other even with only five rounds. That is why the rimless .38 Super was more popular.

You have some pretty significant bullet yaw resulting in obvious key holing on the paper. Try a different projectile and/or different powders & charge combinations. This gun deserves and can do much better.

I never new they made 38 automatic, can you shoot those bullets out of a 38 revolver , can it shoot regular 38spl ammo LRN bullet. Get back please
@EugeneJankowskiJr Жыл бұрын
The model 52-2 shoots.38 special wadcutter only. The same .38 special target round used in revolvers. I think I showed it in the video. It’s a unique engineering feat to get a blunt, rimmed cartridge to feed in a semiautomatic pistol. Even so, it’s a special target pistol and wasn’t designed for concealed carry.

It's not a "wadcutter" pistol and the rounds are not "double enders" you apparantly either don't know what you are talking about or are misinformed. And you can not use wadcutters in an automatic and expect it to function properly and reliably. Wadcutters are made to be used in revolvers. In an automatic, you need to use either semiwadcutters or match ammo for reliability
@danieltorstensen6020 Жыл бұрын
You are so confident but so wrong. Look up the Colt Gold Cup Mid Range pistols.
@576103 Жыл бұрын
Uh…your ignorance is breathtaking. The Model 52 *is* a wadcutter pistol. The magazine is so short that the wadcutter bullet needs to be seated flush with the end of the case or else it won’t fit. Any other style of bullet simply cannot be used. Wadcutter bullets come in two styles-hollow base (HBWC) or double-ended (DEWC). Apparently he is using DEWC.
@jimlacefield7176 Жыл бұрын
Also the guy in the vid says double enders and that they are reloads. A double ended wadcutter is a "thing". Wadcutters come in hollow base and double ended. Again......do some research before you post shit talk and embarrass yourself.
@keithwilliams2766 Жыл бұрын
The only ammo my 52-1 will chamber and shoot is .38 Special wadcutters. The Model 52 is a very unique pistol and highly collectable. A semi auto that is designed to fire only wadcutters is a concept that is hard to wrap your mind around, but it does exist.
@576103 Жыл бұрын
@@keithwilliams2766 Colt also made a version of the Gold Cup National Match 1911 that was similarly chambered.
