I may be wrong, but it seems to me that the SD9 has been a sub $300 handgun for between the last 4 to 8 years. In today's economy with inflation raising the costs of everything we purchase, this is truly remarkable. Tip of my hat, S&W.

I see trade ins of the original SD9 for $179-199. I've tried it before at the range and they're good value options. Glad to see the new one continues that trend.
@william62926 күн бұрын
I admire the SD series for its original trigger. The SD9VE is the first firearm I ever shot at a CPL class, and people thought I was an experienced shooter by the way I was grouping with that pistol. I don't think the trigger pull is too heavy for the average person, but to be fair, I have exceptional hand and finger strength from years of strength training and grappling; however, I think the original SD9VE is an excellent choice for new shooters looking for a self defense option because of the trigger. Like Hrfunk highlighted in his video on the SD9VE, it has the type of trigger that's forgiving in the sense that you're not going to pull the trigger unintentionally due to stress and panic. The trigger is more than manageable, and it makes for a deliberate shot when you're ready to shoot at the intended target. Furthermore, the SD9VE 2.0 that I tried in the shop had a false reset. It was tactile and audible before it actually reset. I was going to buy one, but the supposed, updated trigger is what turned me off.

I bought an SD9VE about 8 or 9 years ago. It looked and felt great at the big box sporting goods store and the price was hard to beat for an S&W. I took it to our range a half dozen times and ended up not liking the pistol at all. It was all because of that wonky hinged trigger. It's been sitting in the safe collecting dust ever since. I've tried to sell it a few times, and even tried to trade it in. The best offer I got was $70. LOL I'll pass. The 2.0 is looks like a huge improvement Dan. I like the deeper cuts and that new trigger at 5.2 pounds is really a huge improvement. That said, I'm not buying any more pistols any time soon. I'd love to have a new Canik, but I can't justify it. Thanks for a nice on point review.

I have a 1.0 that has been heavily modified. To me the main drawback to the 1.0 is that crappy hinged trigger. It sucked, big time! The 2.0 solved that problem. I carry my 1.0 a lot! Those 4 seem to be the goto 4' polymer, 9mm pistols that are easy on the wallet w/o sacrifcing reliablility. I have the Security 9 and G3 and I genuinely like both. I shoot the G3 slightly better and can dryfire it all w/o having to touch the slide, but the Ruger fits into my hand a lot better, therefore more comfortable to draw from a holster.
