So I just purchased a used S-Works and wondered how difficult it was to pull off the rear assembly for service. You can imagine my "shock" at seeing your mug on the KZbin vid! Good to see you Joe :-)

Thanks, Michael! Hopefully this video was helpful in answering how hard it is to get the rear shock off :) I'm also hoping we'll get a chance to ride again this summer.

It was helpful Joe. And yes, we'll need to find some ride time this summer! We have lots of fun tracks near Boyne City so bring the family up for vacation.

Thank you very very much Joseph! Your video save me time and a trip to the dealer, sorting out how to take out the shock to send it to Specialized for warranty was a walk in the park! Thx again!

I’m not sure. Unfortunately I’m not much of a mechanic…I just ride the bikes. 😃

So I just had my rear Epic SWorks brain shock replaced yesterday and my mechanic used a torque wrench on a couple of the fasteners AS PER SPECIALIZED INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. I NEVER SAW THIS GUY PROPERLY TORQUE ANYTHING

Joseph Dunbar Interesting. That may have added a couple of extra seconds for sure. I would say that I’ve never had any issues with it coming loose or creaking from being too tight. I’ll check with the shop the next time I’m in.

Cool video. I have a 2011 EPIC with a failed rear shock/brain. Have you guys done any replacements with non-brain shocks? The bike is in otherwise great shape and I'd like to pass on to my son with less worry about a complex component failing.

Hi Bob. I’ll have to ask the shop, Cross Country Cycle in Holland, MI. I don’t work there, just a loyal customer. I’ll check in with them and comment here with any info I get.

Joseph Lampen many thanks! I have a daughter at GVSU so Holland is close by.

@@robertsbowling1 Go LAKERS! :) Laura at Cross Country Cycle has a couple in stock, but not sure if she has the right year. If you call the shop, it is closed, but she is quite often there taking care of bills and catching any deliveries that are still coming in. Their site is www.crosscountrycycle.com. She'll know I referred you to her.

Hello , where did you buy the new rear shock system ?
@JosephLampen6 жыл бұрын
Upside Down I didn’t buy a new one, I just had it serviced and the shop had a spare in house that they let me borrow while it was sent out.

did you have any problems with it? or was just time for service , i have the same bike and its been 1 year and 4 months beating the crap out of it and still ok . i think ! lol
@JosephLampen8 жыл бұрын
In for Service. As a Clydesdale I beat the crap out of mine, too :) The seals I think may have dried up over the winter (in Michigan we Fat Bike on the snow for 4 months) which didn't help so I'm going to try to do a better job of hopping on it once in a while to make sure the fluid gets moved around. I would suggest having it re-built every other year for sure if not every year. It costs money, but it is worth it.

I'm having problems with my 2018 Specialized Epic Expert brain. The shock was changed already because it was defective and now it looks like it's defective again. It won't accept air and it leaks it. I'm planning on making my bike brainless with this kit www.bikeyoke.de/en/Specialized-Epic-2018-2019.html What are you're thoughts? I'm tired of the bouncing my bike has even with the shock locked.
