फारच सुरेख झकास ठेका पकडणारा आणि नाचवणारा कलाकार. प्रत्यक्ष पाहून आणि एकूण आता कळले की हे बॉन्गो वाद्य किती अवघड आहे. ह्यात आवाज "काढावा" लागतो. वाद्य नुसते ट्युनिंग करून भागत नाही. हातात उचलून आवाजात मींड पण काढता येते. श्याम, हे सर्व वाजवून समजावून दिल्या बद्दल खूप खूप आभार.

Lovely programme - as usual ! I wonder the amount of dedication and love for the instrument that these stalwarts put into play for their instruments ! I must mention about the fantastic and very beautiful rendering of "diruba ..dilpe tu.." from film 'Rajkumar ' by young Akshaya Aiyer and vidit ! Musicians are always best in this programme but I enjoyed guitar strumming of Manish kulkarni in particular ,-in the above song ! In fact, I always watched Manish kulkarni playing bass guitar but I never knew that he can also play accoustic guitar in such a great style ! Lovely performance by all ! Akshya is tuely very talented and has a very great voice !She deserves all encouragement. GOD bless all.

43:30 : Rangeela Re - Amazing Bongo Shyam Sir. What a command on this amazing instrument. The original Rangeela Re song is so loud. This toned down version sounds far better. If you further tone it down, add some piano and do gender-reversal - like Mithilesh singing Rangeeli Re - it would replace beautifully "City of Stars" on Ryan Gosling singing to Emma Stone in the closing scene of La La Land :):):):):):). Great guitar too.

I was also in Maharshi Dayanand College, Parel, Mumbai, (1976 - 1980) when Shyam ji was there. Shyam ji mentions about Guitarist Arun Kerkar in the video. Arun was my classmate and friend in college. We are still good friends. There was another boy in our class, Dilip Rane, who played the Bass Guitar. Dilip became an Bass Guitarist for Lata ji on her foreign tours. It seems Maharshi Dayanand College was a fertile breeding ground for budding Music. I remember, me, playing the Congo on the stage at Rang Bhavan, Bandra, in a College gathering, in 1978, along with Arun Kerkar. Shyam ji, one day I hope to meet you. May be we would remember each other! I use to try and play the Bongo when I was small (about 11 years). When I realised that I needed a teacher, I asked my parents to send me to a "Guru".They said they didn't want their son to play musical instruments in a Local Mumbai Train and beg for his living! So I started on a office job at the age of 18 years and retired at the age of 60 years, in 2020. Now, when I started to learn again, I realised that my body has slowed down. It is too late for me! For all the people reading this. Please follow your dream. Start NOW, if you have missed out on learning a Musical Instrument, when you were young. This World is filled with lot of crap. Music is the only thing that can help you keep your sanity!
