Motorcycle touring camping Dunkirk, France
As we ride our motorcycles through France towards Dunkirk we see many memorials to victims of war, something close to my heart as ive lost family members in the forces too.
I feel compelled to walk amongst the graves and pay my respects, before finding somewhere for camping

Brilliant trip and great to see you paying your respects to our fallen, have done a couple of trips to the Somme both on the GS and in the car with friends and your right it does affect your mood, great series watched from the start 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🏍🇬🇧

Would be rude not to visit them, sadly there are that many you cant do them all on a single trip. It does does drum it home, how many lost their lives though. I will return at some point, it felt like unfinished business 👍

I wouldn't want my sons to give their life for the problems caused by politicians, So sad for the relatives on both sides that lost young sons and if it visiting those graves and imaganing the horror they suffered doesn't bring a lump to your throat then ther's somthing wrong with you. RESPECT thanks for sharing.

Can't really say for politicians back then, but the current crop ain't worth fighting for that's for sure. My family really suffered by WWII, both my parent and their brothers lost fathers, obviously i never had a grandfather growing up and seeing how affected my parents and Uncles each remembrance day will haunt me forever. Watching a tough guy like my dad shed a tear broke my heart. them graves bring it back.

I visited the US war graves, beautifully kept but oh so sad, I too was a blubbering wreck. Years ago I was in France near the beaches, although I didn't know exactly where I was. I came over cold and couldn't hear a thing, as we turned the corner we saw the landing beaches, spooky.

I have to say . I was in France last year for the first time and i know what you mean about how you feel when you stop at the war graves . I am now 64 years of age and i have to admit i cried at the sight of just how many young men and women died. I dont think that unless you visit these sites you apreciate the mood thats set in them . I felt strange . My son has just returned from fighting in the Ukraine and i was in France at that time . He came back injured and it really go to me .

Certainly puts a lump in your throat, walking and reading the graves, young men who gave everything for their country.

Exactly, having family in war graves makes you realise your own story is tiny to the overall loss to families everywhere, and like it said on the video, the unknown soldiers graves are so sad to see.

Yeah we had a ride there too, it’s hard to keep your emotions together when you see it for real, lost it a couple of times. But at least you went in and showed your respect. Well done mate, love watching your videos, just makes me want to go back 👍👍

He was in the Green Howards, we was told he died after a shell exploded, we will never know for sure. I intend to do a personal tour from Home to Anzio on the bike in 2025 where i will tell his story and visit his grave.... it will be emotional, especially since i will be scattering my own fathers ashes with him.

If you watch David Jason's film about WW1 you will see that all the young men in a town or village joined the same regiment and got wiped out en mass.
