In this week’s episode I’m joined by Team GB boxer Caroline Dubois, who tells her inspirational story of her route to the top of female boxing.
Carolin began boxing at nine years old, after her father insisted on her training at a top-tier boxing club with her brother Daniel Dubois, regardless of the fact there were all female boxing clubs in the area.
Incredibly, Caroline pretended to be a boy called Colin throughout her first few months at Repton Amateur Boxing Club. She then went on to win the 2017 European Junior Championships after defeating Nune Asatrian by a score that was unanimously agreed upon. Not one to rest on her laurels, she then defeated Ellis Hopkins in a unanimous points decision in the English National Youth Championships the following year.
Transitioning her early promise into the professional game, Caroline currently has a perfect record of six fights and six wins (5 by KO).
Throughout her career Caroline has shown an unreal mental strength and I have nothing but admiration for the attitude and application to get to where she currently is.
As someone who’s mental strength was tested to the maximum both in the armed forces and during my 111-day world-first solo row, I was only too happy to sit down with Caroline and talk about the winner’s mindset.
Enjoy!
