WOW! If I had seen this in 1980 when I was 20 years old, I would have busted out of that closet with those Ruby Red Slippers and said, "Here I am, World! Take me as I am, Ruby Red Slippers and all!" Ha! Thank you for sharing! (Actually, my life has not been all that difficult as a gay man. I have been very fortunate in having a circle of very accepting friends, family and co-workers.)

Not sure how KZbin placed this as a recommendation but I enjoyed the video. I don’t have the same experiences as Andre. My story is different. I came to know I was gay when I was in 2nd grade. My best friend was saying “Mike (a guy in our class) is a punk!” And I said “what’s a punk?” And he said “A punk is a boy who likes to kiss other boys”. And I said to myself “oh that means I’m a punk” and I just accepted myself. After high school I enrolled in college but I didn’t leave home, I commuted every day. I told myself “if they ever ask me, I will tell them I’m gay”. Well one morning my dad woke me up and said “son get up, and come talk to me” so I got up, washed my face, brushed my teeth, brushed my hair (that was the rules in our home, when you get up you do basic hygiene or else) and sat in the den. I walked in the den and sat on the couch and asked “where’s Mama” and he said “she’s at the grocery store-I want to as you something son “ I didn’t answer I just looked at him and he continued “do you think that you’re gay?” And I looked him in the eyes and said “Daddy. I don’t think I am…I know I am”. And he cried. He told me what he was taught about the Bible and homosexuality. I began to cry because I was sure he was going to tell me to leave. But he stopped and he said..”But you’re my son. I love you no matter who you lay in your bed with, there’s nothing you can do to make stop loving you..”. He stood over me, leaned over and he kissed me on the top of my head. I began to cry harder and he said “it’s ok son. You don’t have to worry. I’m not going to let anyone hurt you”. Then he asked me if I was being safe-sexually and I said “Daddy I am still a virgin”. He looked at me with a curious face and said” If you’re a virgin how do you know that you’re gay?” And just as fast I answered “the same way when you was a virgin you knew you were straight!!” He blinked and just laughed and laughed. He then said “ Son fix your dad a cup of coffee. And don’t go back to sleep, your Mama will be coming back and you have to bring in those bags “. I said “yes sir “. He went in their room and right as I was done making his coffee my mother pulled into the garage. I opened the back door and she walked in and said “Did your daddy talk to you?” And I said “yes ma’am “ and she said “ok, that’s good. Grab these bags out the trunk” I said “ok Mama. Can you take that cup of coffee to Daddy?” She said “ My name ain’t Hazel, he can get his own damn coffee “ lol. I tell my husband this story all the time and he says that I was very blessed. When he was 14 and told his mom he was gay..she threw him out. I’ve come to know that it’s kind of the norm. My dad passed some time ago, but he always was so supportive. So are my siblings. Practically all of my family on my mothers side is very supportive. Until this day, my mother has never asked me if I’m gay.

@jaisonlives3 жыл бұрын
If gay is not a lifestyle then what is it? It’s not an identity. Homosexual is a sexual identity and it cannot be chosen. To live gay is a choice.
@bryannoah90233 жыл бұрын
@@jaisonlives Gay=sexual orientation/sexuality. Lifestyle implies there is a choice. Being vegan is a lifestyle, being a gamer is a lifestyle, being a gym junkie is a lifestyle. You choose to be those things and to live the life that comes with it. There is an obvious difference and I would hope I don't have to explain any further.

I just found your channel on youtube I'm white, 61yo and live in the UK. I just wanted to say "WOW". Since 2016 I've been paying more attention to stuff across the pond, mostly in complete disbelief and then wanting to know "Why?" Many of the answers were very challenging. Like "in 2018? Really?" So it's wonderful too find warmth and support from within the queer community, quietly but clearly letting people know it's OK to be who you are. It's a bonus when they happen to be as handsome and charismatic as Mr Hilton. Thank you.

This is so true. The gay life is so true and more specifically true to the decades and century a person came out in. being gay was different for someone in 70's, then the person in 80's then 90's was so you machismo and separated the two scenes and now we are in the 20's and everyone is getting their chance to be normalized.

@tommoncrieff11543 жыл бұрын
Bit disappointing that so many comments are shallow ones about the first guy’s looks with nothing to add about his personality or journey. What struck me is he was thrown out by his mother, it seems for being gay, and his father took him in, albeit grudgingly. When the step-mother, who sounds great, told the father to stop putting his son down and explained to him what the future held, to the father’s great credit he changed and it seems they mended their relationship. We should always credit those who make the effort to relearn, it’s not their fault they believe what they were raised to believe.
