Thank you for your wonderful blog every time. This bridge is a place that even Japanese people rarely go to. It's a wonderful natural environment.

It really is wonderful, I can only imagine the dedication and effort that was required to build these vine bridges. It is a bit out of the way, but well worth a visit when visiting Shikoku!

As requested, here a (rough) itinerary of the trip we did on Shikoku in the hire car. We started in Imabari and took the 317 to Matsuyama, with a side trip upto Mount Takanawa. We stayed at Dogo which is just outside of Matsuyama and enjoyed the Dogo Onsen, one of Japan's oldest and most famous hot springs. From Dogo we drove along coastal roads to Shimanto. From there we followed the winding Shimanto river North to the submersible bridges. After that beautiful ride we drove to Kochi and to the spectacular Iya Valley and back to Imabari. An activity that was high on our list but we missed out on because we booked too late was a knife making workshop. If that is something you are interested in, make sure you book ahead! Hope this helps, have fun planning your trip😁
