Great video! Technically, you can bring a bike on any train in Japan, but if you don't put the bike in a bag, it is considered rude. Japanese use what are called "Rinko" bags for transporting bikes. In a pinch, you can use a rain cover or some large trash bags. It won't look very good, but at least you won't offend anyone.

Glad you enjoyed the video! Rinko bags are great too, it does get a little tricky with the panniers/luggage. I'm glad this train route allowed bicycles, it was a nice experience :)

As requested, here a (rough) itinerary of the trip we did on Shikoku in the hire car. We started in Imabari and took the 317 to Matsuyama, with a side trip upto Mount Takanawa. We stayed at Dogo which is just outside of Matsuyama and enjoyed the Dogo Onsen, one of Japan's oldest and most famous hot springs. From Dogo we drove along coastal roads to Shimanto. From there we followed the winding Shimanto river North to the submersible bridges. After that beautiful ride we drove to Kochi and to the spectacular Iya Valley and back to Imabari. An activity that was high on our list but we missed out on because we booked too late was a knife making workshop. If that is something you are interested in, make sure you book ahead! It really is wonderful, I can only imagine the dedication and effort that was required to build these vine bridges. It is a bit out of the way, but well worth a visit when visiting Shikoku!

The Shimanto River is one of the few clear rivers in Japan.The cloth with the fish hanging is a carp streamer. It is hung to pray for the growth of children. It is hung on May 5th, Children's Day.

대한민국 행정안전부 선정 "자전거 명품 코스 20선" 중 한 곳인 박진고개를 넘어셨네요. 정상에는 수많은 사람들의 낙서로 유명한 곳이기도 합니다.^^ 고개 반대쪽에서 어린아이들과 함께 올라오는 멋진 가족과 감동적인 만남도 하셨군요~^^ 한국에는 산이 많아서 크고 작은 언덕이 많은 것 같아요~ 오늘도 힘든 고개를 넘으시며 수고하셨습니다~ 부산까지 남은 여정을 응원합니다~

아름다운 여행커플, 대한민국에 오신것을 환영합니다. 아름다운 추억으로 가득찬 한국에서의 시간이 되시기를.. 선하고 친절한 한국인들만 만나시기를.. 한가지 어드바이스.. 한국에서 실내에서는 야외에서 신는 신발을 신지 않습니다. 한국에서 숙소나 가정집 실내에 들어갈때는 신발을 벋는것이 한국인의 생활 스타일 입니다. 한국의 난방은 "온돌"이기때문에 서양과 달리 실내에서는 야외용신발 을 신지 않습니다. 즐거운 한국여행 되세요!

All the Korean people we have met have been kind, helpful and very encouraging on the bicycle trails. We think it is a great lifestyle not to wear outside shoes inside the home 👍, much cleaner and we are used to it now. Thanks for watching :)

Great video, I plan on doing a biking tour in Korea sometime soon. Hopefully you'll get time to visit Jeju Island. I bike camped an entire month there in 2010.

국토종주 낙동강 4대 업힐 중에 한 곳인 무심사 임도를 넘어가셨군요. 무심사로 진입 전에 좌측 자동차 차로로 우회하는 길이 있는데.. 많은 짐을 실은 자전거를 끌고 무심사를 넘어셨군요. 대단하시고 멋지십니다.
