The drive through Wupperthal reminded us how quickly things can change when a devastating fire on 30 December 2018 destroyed nearly half of the houses, the communal hall, school hostel, shop and other buildings in this heritage town. The temporary houses built to accommodate those who lost their homes still remain on the sports field but most of the communal buildings have been beautifully restored with life continuing for the residents. We didn't spend much time here as it was late afternoon and decided to head towards the Biedouw Valley to avoid arriving after sunset. We followed the winding dirt road over the Kouberg Pass where the beautiful scenery welcomed us to the Biedouw. Our overnight spot was at Enjo Nature Farm.
