The comment about defending and how it's underrated by the majority is true, but not to sound smug . The opinion that matters ie the old heads will always salivate when you witness a lad at the top of his game defending. Coming from a hurling back ground I remember sitting in Croke, maybe 6 or 7 watching the Kilkenny defenders that day, even though they were beat but some of the defending was exemplary Pat Henderson Jesus Christ he was a God to me. I think in the modern age , especially in football natural defending has been played down and athleticism favoured. This is very evident when you see lads , especially in the full- back line not able to " protect" the keeper . Old fashioned yes but I know that if a cute forward gets near your no 1 he'll do his best to " unsettle " him and it won't be by telling stories about his sister 😊😊
