Your video captures the majesty and power of God who created those awesome mountains. Drove through there recently myself and couldn't but help to praise Him for His wonderful creation. Gives one perspective on how small we are although our ego tries to tell us otherwise.

What amazes me most is that these gorgeous redrock and layered shale formations remind me so much of the Colorado Rocky mountains that I spent fifteen years married, working and raising a family in. It makes me homesick, but this is South Africa! I'm revisiting my homeland and travelling through its passes in three weeks from today. So excited. Cheers

I was also disappointed not having walked up to the waterfall. While I am able to navigate uneven surfaces, steps, etc. my wife is not because of a serious knee issue. I was not comfortable leaving her alone in the car on this particular day. I opted for the next best shot of the waterfall. Glad to hear you enjoyed the rest of our video though. 👌🏻

Hello you 2! I have now been following/watching all Ur videos. Just loving every minute. I sit with a book and write names of the places u stayed over at. Thank you so much for this. The way your doing this is soo great. n No negative rubbish 😉And their is so many. We just did the Transkei, The Hole in the Wall! my WORD,!!!!! the ROADS ARE HORRENDOUS 😳 They started to tarr the road then stopped,!!!! It's not Potholes it's ' small dongas' Ur entire wheel could go into it. can do alot of damage. I'm telling you this coz you love gravel roads. I don't think the Kwid will survive. We did it with a Renault Duster 4x4 and have sooo much rattles now you won't fall asleep in it 🤣Keep up this Ur doing. Don't like Churches but see what you're seeing. It's amazing
@DustBugsTravel2 жыл бұрын
Your trip to the Transkei sounds very adventurous. 😁 Thank you so much for your kind comment, we're really happy to hear that you enjoy our videos. 😊 We do love gravel roads and have been fairly lucky thus far by not getting too many potholes, but we know they're coming! 😨 If we feel the Kwid is having a hard time, we'll certainly reassess and opt for a different vehicle. We don't like taking chances, especially on roads where help may not be close and cellphone signals don't exist. 🙃 The thing about churches is that they're all so spectacular in the small towns, we just can't drive past. 😇⛪

Its the same river. The road crosses it about 22 times. At least the old road did. Because the crossings were all driffies, at times, there would be too much water flowing over the road. I love the association with Langenhoven and Herrie op die Ou Tremspoor. Its a wonderful book. Have you read Langenhoven? So glad you saw the Herrieklip. I have travelled this road since when, and each time it takes my breath away with the beauty of the mountains and rock formations.Dis n oergevoel wat mens kry!
@DustBugsTravel2 жыл бұрын
It certainly took our breaths away as well, it was just gorgeous beyond any imagination! 🥰⛰️ One of us read Langenhoven in younger days. 😉📚 We didn't know that it's the same river crossing the road so many times, so clearly they gave each crossing a different name then!
@annawitter51612 жыл бұрын
@@DustBugsTravel yes, you see it's that very river that originally wore the poort through the rock. Amazing how powerful water can be. No doubt some seismic activity also took place before the river started to flow. Would have been bigger and more powerful back then

No wonder the N12 from Beaufort West to Klaarstroom required a complete resurfacing last year... The big trucks are damaging that entire stretch of the N12 from Beaufort West, through Meiringspoort, De Rust and lastly, to Oudtshoorn. Back in the day, when we caravaned from Welkom to Mossel Bay every December, there were hardly any big trucks on the entire stretch of the N12 (Old R29 route) . Big trucks were mostly found on the N1 and N9 those years.

No worries! 👌🏻They're not too far apart, but two different roads. Swartberg Pass is between Oudtshoorn and Prince Albert while Meiringspoort is between Klaarstroom and De Rust.
