Wow,,,, that was really simple! Thanks so much for your video. Clear and concise. I’m fortunate enough to have all the tools necessary,,,, now to get some fresh fuel and get the saw to work!

Picked me up one of those screwdrivers you can pull the entire metal shaft out of the handle and flip it over to put different bits on both ends and then put it back in the handle. Flipped it over and used it without a bit and its the exact size for taking off the air filter mount. You can pick one of those reversible screwdrivers up anywhere.

I own the same Stihl ms271 and it’s a nightmare, it’ll fire up on a cold start and as soon as I shut it off it won’t turn back on for another few days. But I’ll change the whole carb and hope it runs like it should. Thank you for time and knowledge

Good luck. I'm kinda offended. I'm trying to support local and they do me that way.

Thanks... How did you like that "work shirt"? Gotta keep it real! lol I had to fight with my TroyBilt brush cutter yesterday. I'm about to lose the green of summer and have a necessary cross drain that just about grew up on me. Still wearing that rag - it just about made it to the burn pile (sticktights all over that rascal). A pair of perfectly good socks were lost in the day's work. LOL! I like that saw. I used to buy "white box" oregon chains through Comstock Logging Supply. They were (IMHO) as good as Sthil just made for spool chain to order. I buy 3 at a time. and swap out. I hate dragging out the sharpener for one chain. Once the last one dulls out - I sharpen all of them.

I used a 1/4" deep well socket and it slid right in there without any modifications. I think it was 5/16".

Thanks for the vid. Quick question. Did you have to tune the carb at all? Or is it somehow a factory preset? Thanks for a good tutorial.
@DelHollowProductions Жыл бұрын
Factory. It could use some tweaking but it's easy start - just right off the production line. I didn't tweak mine.

Did you use a Zama carb or an aftermarket?

Can you tell us what size nut driver you used for this?
@DanWessonSpecialist Жыл бұрын
Nut driver is 8mm but must be thin wall enough to go in plastic holes.
@DelHollowProductions Жыл бұрын
Sorry, I wasn't ignoring you, I just have a crap-ton of videos and the KZbin notification isn't the best. It's the red one from that Harbour Freight set I showed. 8mm I think. I took a belt sander to it to thin down then painted it red so it wouldn't rust (no markings remain). I have not opened the rest of the set but if I counted right, I can agree with the other comment.
