I felt this episode... love it! Those 56 channel multis (actually any of that style Whirlwind Mass) are definitely an accident waiting to happen. The 48 channel connector CBI uses is a lot tougher and harder to mis-insert IMO. Thicker pins and they all go the same direction...

MASS connector trivia: did you know that these were originally designed for buildings in earthquake prone areas? Areas of the building were designed to operate independently of each other so they could sway in an earthquake. The MASS connector was the disconnect point. Water and gas pipes were made of braided flexible tubing at certain points. With the MASS connectors handling the data formats of the day.
