Karin thank you soooo much for this video. My god what a heartbreaking story, and confusing, and yet wonderful to see more of young Momo. How in the world was he thought of as a blackback at seven. Though his arm’s were a silverbacks even when two. Momoko also has huge arms. The training to separate them began when he was just 6. When the door so sadly closed between them for good in Jan 2008, Momo lived with Monta for a year? Was the separation to encourage Momoko to mate? And then, in Dec 2008, Momo and Momoko were reunited and sent back to Ueno. Some reports have had Momo living by himself at Chiba for 2-3 years before coming to Genki in Kyoto City, when he was 10. But by this account he was at Ueno. With just Momoko and Toto? So much sadness for all of them. And lots of sobbing here. Yet I still thank you.
@ZoosForConservation2 жыл бұрын
Hi Kate. Thank you for watching the video! I don't think Momotaro and Momoko were reunited in Dec 2008. They were still separated even in Ueno. It's not so clear whether Momotaro lived with Monta before he was transferred to Ueno, but I assume he didn't. The zoo wanted to see if Momoko could pair up with Monta. So, Momotaro was living by himself for 2 years and 10 months before meeting Genki. Gorillas are so relatable to humans. I hope the video didn't make your eyes swollen.🙏 Thank you for your comment!

Never have I been so upset and disgusted at the zoo's over there. These beautiful creatures have feelings just like us. To tear momotaro from his mother all because you wanted a female to breed, was one of the cruelest things I have seen. The most was Genki, she was so distressed she was mauling herself and lost fingers all because humans made selfish decisions. The zoos throw them around like they are nothing. Zoo's should be shut down, they are nothing but peep shows for money

if it was not for the zoo's its far more likely Gorillas would be extinct . as for the breeding they are also doing that for the same reason. Hi ChenruiJD. Momotaro was separated from Momoko at the age of 7 (almost 8). The reason was probably the zoo wanted Momoko to mate with Monta or other silverbacks (i.e. Haoko). Hello Todd. Thank you for watching the video. Momotaro's father is Biju. Biju came from Howletts Animal Park in UK and had a baby with Momoko at Ueno zoo. Unfortunately he passed away before Momoko gave birth to Momotaro. Biju never came to Chiba Zoo where Monta lives now. I guess my video editing was a little confusing. Momotaro's short temper could be something to do with how he was raised, but it could also be his personality.

Mama was bigger as a toddler than kintaro because Momo's mom had milk kintaro mom did not have hardly any milk that's why they took the older boy away she didn't have enough milk and they should have supplemented Mama's milk with formula at a real early age instead of waiting till he was seven or eight months old.
@ZoosForConservation2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, The amount of breast milk Kintaro was getting from Genki could be one factor why he is smaller than Momotaro at the same age. Thank you Roxanna for watching the video and I appreciate your comment.

@@ZoosForConservation I enjoy watching I've watched since that little guy was first born.
I don't know why they haven't tried to pair Monta with Komomo. He isn't related to Haoko is he? I know he isn't related to Momoko since they tried mating them.
@ZoosForConservation2 жыл бұрын
If I'm not wrong, the rumor of Monta could be related to Momoko has emerged recently. At the time of the zoo trying to pair up Momoko with Monta, they might not have an idea that there could be such possibility. I've asked the zoo director about this matter and haven't got a reply yet. Thank you Mac for your comment.😊🙏

This is a much better environment for these big monkeys. The current living arrangements are like a sterile prison.

Hearbreaking that Momotaro was separated from his mom so young, and why? Is Monta Momotaro's uncle, Momo resembles him. Baby Momo looks just like Kintaro, although genius Gentaro might be my favorite.
@ZoosForConservation2 жыл бұрын
I don't know why. They haven't mentioned the reason why they started training very early. I guess it has more to do with Momoko. If a mother is separated from her child, she may become more active in finding a partner. Monta could be related to Momotaro. It's not confirmed. The trading company which had imported Momoko and Monta was told that they were not related, but that might be a false. Genius sweetheart Gentaro is my favorite too! Thanks for watching!
These creatures are too intelligent to play 90 day fiance! Momotaro was still too young at 7 to be sepeated from his mother. Not right.

These Japanese Zoos are very cruel. Taking a young Gorilla way which is not even six years old, though the Mother really suffers, left me speechless. They only see the females as breeders. And Ueno is as brutal; forcing Genki to endure the insane Gentaro since three years. But hey, she is only a female. Who cares how she suffers? No good sign, when a country mistreats animals.

I LOVE Gentrao too. He is such a sweetheart. I'm not sure about Gentaro's future. No info is out there. Wherever he goes next, I'm sure there must be lots and lots of fans to go after him to take videos. And since he has so many fans like myself, no zoos can treat him badly. So no worries.😁 Thank you for your comment!
