This video was filmed before lunch. The video starts with Haoko taking a nap with Toto in the smaller grotto. He then wakes up and leaves the grotto. Momoka is relaxing while leaning over a log. She seems to be lost in thought. Riki is eating leaves. Riki teases Momoka. Riki sits next to Toto. Momoka displays against Toto. Was Momoka jealous of Toto because Riki sat next to her? Momoka and Riki leave the grotto. Toto remains and starts eating leaves. Riki is sunbathing near the waterfall. Momoka comes back to the grotto. She looks at Toto. She eventually sits next to Toto. Toto shares her food with Momoka. Toto is a super generous gorilla. Momoka moves her sitting position to the corner. She looks like contemplating something. Toto keeps eating leaves. The video ends with short clips of Komomo, Momoko and Haoko.

• In July 2002 she and Momotaro came back to Chiba Zoo when Momotaro was 2 yrs old.
• In Dec 2008 she and Momotaro were transferred to Ueno Zoo as a part of the BL program.

*Momotaro's father is Biju. He passed away in 1999 from suffocation.

What you describe is exactly what I picture for the lovely old ladies of the captive gorilla world, Lynn! A peaceful place with all the enrichment they could want, or just warm spots of sunlight to bask in. Kind of a retirement home for them, off exhibit, where they could live out their days in comfort. I'd build it in a heartbeat if I was a billionaire.

Omg...Karin...My heart is melting..This video was so emotional and super sweet at the same time!! Sorry Momoka, it's not easy being a teenage female, regardless of species 😏 Toto's reactions are measured and kind - a great teacher for Momoka and Komomo. How lucky they have been to have Toto as an integral part of their lives! Toto is a very lovely female gorilla! 🥰

Hi Susan. Her mother Momoko was diagnosed with severe anemia. She is now recovering. So she couldn't breastfeed Sumomo the baby, plus she had to go through intense medical care for a couple of months.
