I was always so confused what the heck a decorated tree had to do with Christmas. I learned later on that in Yule they decorated the trees in shiny baubles to try and entice the fairies back, which made so much sense

I had a legit premonition about this. A couple days ago, I was wondering what a christmas song by Matt would sound like and I had remembered next episode of jam mechanics was coming up and I was just so sure that somehow you'd get put up to doing something christmassy, and you took it off the rails in the best way. Awesome episode y'all!

honestly, AlIen is such a good song, and I think the limitations to 42 unique words makes it hit harder. matt is definitely right about the repetition emphasis. also was the 42 words a reference to hitchhikers guide to the galaxy? because if so, that's amazing.
