I have been creating jewelry for about 15 years. What I’ve learned was taught by Pueblo elder who has passed. Since watching your videos I’ve picked up some great tips. I’ve done a little pick soldering and now I will be changing how I solder. This video on the clasp is great…My next project. Thank you.

Happy to find you (not that haven't been searching....!) Learned a LOT! Love your safety clasp. I'm on board! Lucky time? I think clogged time - thanks to Covid, and greed - trying to make a buck or get free tools from distributors by doing "collaborations". So many amateurs I am grateful for the veterans. So much bad info. Also, so much good. It's a roulette wheel, lots of reinventing any wheel, even the square ones. Glad to find you, so tired of the blind trying to lead the more blind. You're a breath of fresh air!

I am enjoying this series IMMENSLY, and learning quite a few new things. In one of the episodes you made the comment that you use Hard solder most of the time and Easy solder, not so much... But, more discussion about that will follow. Please talk about that. I am so interested to learn how to make that work. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. The way you take the time to show and explain the burrs, the wheels, polishing compounds, sanding cloth rather than sand paper, flux, etc. just makes life so much easier for newbies, like myself. I am as grateful as I am IMPRESSED! Tremendously!

Hi Melanie, I started on three a while back, each time making one smaller. I finished one today. Thank you for teaching me, I never learned this one in goldsmithing school (which was 20 years ago). I had to do a few tweaks and workaround, as a butane burner doesn't make it easy to "ball back", it did do some autogenous welding, which was nice. I simply soldered on separate balls, it turned quite nice. And then you solder on a jump ring I guess?
@melaniekline48957 ай бұрын
It has probably become soft from soldering and lost it's spring. Do you know how to put the temper back in?
@meowsaidthecat53387 ай бұрын
@@melaniekline4895 I think there is a misunderstanding;) I have a butane gas burner/ torch,butane sinks. Propane is hotter. It worked out well. I'm taking a bath, and then will solder on a jumpring. I'm using it in a strawberry quarz necklace. I started goldsmithing again in March, after 19 years of other things ( including Archaeology).Your feather instruction helped me with getting soldering technique back. In March it felt I forgot a lot of things. I will hammer on it again, when the jumpring is soldered to the back ( that which attaches to the necklace).

Hi Melanie, i just stumbled upon your channel, so glad i did. Thank you for your tutorials, such useful tips and techniques. Question…in your intro, you show your studio setup (which is also helpful), i am wondering about the wire storage box you have. It looks very useful in sorting and keeping wire sizes handy. Did you make this box? Or can you share where you got it? Thank you again, Karin
