This is part 10 of the SPRING IS IN THE AIR Tour by MV Lady Liselot.
Lake Grevelingen appears to have a number of islands where you can moore. After I had visited Stampersplaat, I had moored Lady Liselot on the island of Ossehoek, but there was still a group of islands to discover. A disadvantage: ... no, I'm not going to reveal that yet, you'll see that when you watch this video.
Nederlands:
Weet je dat Nederlandse ondertiteling aan kan zetten? Doorgaans zo'n 4 uur nadat de video is gepubliceerd. Het Grevelingen meer blijkt een aantal eilanden te hebben waar je kunt aanleggen. Nadat ik Stampersplaat had bezocht, had ik Lady Liselot afgemeerd op het eilandje Ossehoek, maar er was nog een eilanden groep te ontdekken. Een nadeel: ... nee, dat verklap ik nog niet, dat zie je wel als je deze video bekijkt.
Super leuk trouwens dat je deze video hebt gevonden. Ik ben Henk-Jan, en behalve dit kanaal, kan het zomaar zijn dat je mij online op nog meer plaatsen tegen komt. Ervaringen en kennis delen via bewegend beeld, blijft nu eenmaal leuk. Vind ik dan. (en jij blijkbaar ook, want anders las je dit niet)

Omdat ik veel (bootjes-)kennissen heb die in het buitenland wonen, heb ik besloten om de video in het Engels te doen. Wellicht vind je het 'steenkolen Engels', vergeef me dat dan maar, want zij die uitsluitend Engels spreken of Engels ook als 2e taal hebben, zijn al heel blij dat ze op deze manier mij kunnen volgen. Helaas betekent dit dat een aantal Nederlanders die het Engels niet machtig zijn, de video's lastiger kunnen volgen. Helaas is dat zo.
Maar, als je het desondanks toch leuk vindt, dan maak je me blij met die Thumbs Up.

You are spot on with concerns for depths we draw 1.9m and we’re very grateful for our Dutch pilot Ernst! @@MVLadyLiselot ik ben er idd snel bij. Dat komt omdat ik werloos ben en zeer veel zoekende op internet. Zoals je hebt gemerkt op net zulke rare tijden als jij. Ik heb weer een vraag; je had het hier over de dieptes en over die plotter. Ik weet dat een boot een dieptemeter kan hebben, hoe het werkt weet ik niet, want zo'n ding moet natuurlijk vóór of rondom je boot meten. Die plotter laat een kaart zien, waarschijnlijk van de aktuele situatie en ik neem aan dat hij meeveranderd. Want je had het over zoutwatergebied, dus neem ik aan dat je daar rekening moet houden met eb en vloed. Daar bestaan natuurlijk schema's voor en je moet dan natuurlijk wel in voldoende diep water liggen als het eb wordt. Wat gebeurd er nu als je daar om e.o.a. reden niet weg bent en je schip komt op ondiep water of op het droge te liggen. Heb je dan schade aan je schroeven en andere onderdelen? Of kun je gewoon blijven liggen totdat het vloed wordt en kun je weer wegvaren?

@@smitferdi5660 Een dieptemeter wordt ergens in de romp van een boot aangebracht. En bij de eerste 'initialisatie' geef je aan wat de afstand er is tussen de onderkant van dat ding en de kiel/onderkant van de boot. Het is een sonar die een geluidje uitzend en wacht hoe lang het duurt voor dat geluidje terug komt. Daarmee wordt de diepte gemeten. De politie doet dat ook, maar dan met laser. ;-) Net als het navigatiesysteem van een auto, is 'de plotter' een wat groter scherm en de positie wordt zichtbaar vanwege de GPS antenne (die zit in de mast). Op de Grevelingen is geen eb en vloed, maar daarbuiten wel. In mijn video's rondom de Waddenzee heb je gezien dat het daar snel droogvalt, en dan moet je inderdada rekening houden met eb en vloed. En, aangezien het water in en uit een bepaald gebied stroomt, is het handig om rekening te houden met de snelheid van de stroming. Dat geldt als voor de Hollandsche IJssel waar ik in het begin van deze tour op vaar, of de Nieuwe Maas die door Rotterdam stroomt. Maar ook in de Dordtse Kil en de Oude Maas kan een flinke vloed- of ebstroom lopen. Daar houd ik zoveel mogelijk rekening mee, want het scheelt soms 2, 3 of zelfs 4km. Om dat uit te rekenen gebruik je een 'stroomatlas'. Er je schip een platte bodem heeft, dan kan je makkelijk 'droogvallen'. In mijn geval heeft Lady Liselot een kiel met een diepte van 1,60m en als ik vastloop, dan valt ze op haar kant. De kans is groot dat een van de schroefassen dan verbuigt. Bij opkomend water gaat ze gewoon weer drijven, maar ik weet niet of dat het water dan eerst door de patrijspoorten naar binnenloopt voordat ze gaat drijven, dus ik ga het 'droogvallen' maar niet uitproberen.

The depths marked on the chart plotter are in metric but is there a facility to display in imperial? I seem to remember from many years ago paper charts (Stanfords) were marked in fathoms, at least in the UK. What is the situation nowadays, are all charts worldwide in metric? Questions, questions, questions.....sorry

Yes, Bob, papercharts vs chartplotter. I just tell the machine I want to have it all in metric and that's what I got. But also on the Imray papaer chart I bought recently it says (bold and in red) "Depths in meters".

Hello Dan, the cookie is called 'mergpijp'. Cake with some jam with marzipan around it. Yummie. The lake is not tidal. There is a lock towards the tidal part and on some spots the lake is shallow and overthere you find the buoyed canals

What ever happened to your visit to the boat yard for a roof to install your solar panels? I thought I heard something about needing a roof first? This would increase your air-draft and might be more bother than its worth? I just noticed your planking; was your vessel built in Taiwan? I'm looking at the etch-lines on the freeboard of your hull as you climb down your ladder to go ashore. Well done in easing her into a shallow berth.

Hi Joseph! A 'foldable' roof' ( I do not want to cut off more canals and rivers with fixed bridges because of the height of the Lady) becomes way to expensive. So I decided to fix two panels another way. Working on that the next coming weeks. No, no boatjob-video of that, since that does not fit the format. Lady Liselot is a 1980 GRP Blue Ocean Trawler and is build on the Lien Hwa Boat Yard (Lien Hwa Inmdustrial Corporation). Lien Hwa Boat Yard was established in 1978 in Taipei, Taiwan. Building boats for several OEM partners included Blue Ocean (Holland - power boats), Little Harbor (US - sail boats), Marine Trader (US - power boats), Trade Winds (US - power boats), Mckinna Yachts, Yanmar boats.

Hoi Ralph, Het NoordOosten als in 'Deventer". De routeplanner gaf aan dat de IJssel wat ondiep is, daarom had ik meer dagen nodig dan ik beschikbaar had en is het Den Helder geworden. De video's daarover zie je vanzelf verschijnen (over weken...) of bedoelde je dat niet?

@@MVLadyLiselot Hoi Henk-Jan, tja noord-oosten is ruim begrip natuurlijk ;-) Ik bedoelde eigenlijk meer in de richting van Zwarte Meer, Beulakerwijde, Zwartsluis e.d. ... Toen ik zelf nog een boot had voer ik regelmatig rond de Vliet en de Kagerplassen. Af en toe richting Vinkeveen. Nu woon ik echter in Meppel en kan niet wachten tot er voor mij weer een tijd is dat ik hier de boel per boot kan gaan verkennen ;) Heb wel eens wat gehuurd rondom de Weerribben, maar da's toch anders :)

@@rsprenger79 Jouw gebied staat zeker op het to-do-lijstje. Vaak heb ik maar 7 dagen aaneengesloten voor een tourtje en dan moet ik heen en terug kunnen. Jouw kant op kost net even meer tijd. Natuurlijk kan ik dan vaardagen van 10 uur maken, maar daar heb ik vaak geen zin in. Als het niet anders kan (Texel-Scheveningen op de autopilot prima te doen) dan doe ik het, maar liever niet.
