Very underestimated keeper. One of my top 10 wolves players ever. Started watching them in 1966 and my second match was Phils first. Fulham away 1967. Happy times.

I once remember, back in 68 or 69 when I was at the art college, getting between him and a mate of mine at the Club Lafayette. My mate, who was off his face, had called him a poofter and Phil was about to rip his head off! I met Phil recently and had a chat over a beer. I mentioned the incident and he said he remembered it. Whether he really did or not, I don't really care. Top man!!

Some of the wolves team did a coaching day at our primary school in the 70s...Phil refereed a game and sent me off ,straight red!!! Legend..... crap ref tho !!
