That "traintracky" feeling can be mitigated with a rocker. They're totally flat on the Shredpools. Even going up a millimeter on the inside wheels will give you a 0.5mm rocker, which is noticeable and helps with the agility a lot. I set up a pair recently as 68/60 and they felt like that until I finally worked them in a little. I love the Oysi frames (specifically Mediums), but this review does a really good job of showing both the pros and cons of the frame. I recently went back to the Fluid Vs and was surprised at how much easier topside grinds are due to the lower ride height. That said, it makes sense to pair the taller frame on a boot like the Blanks or SLs, where you can sink it up into the soulplates a little bit. Nice job!

Agreed on the rockering. For the medium Oysi, I like 1mm rocker like 65-60. I love these frames (and even more so the classic Oysi). My only complaint is that it can be hard to find matching wheels in the right sizes.

@@tobyschnabelhuber Same, I prefer the medium to the classics as well. And agreed on the wheels! I always thought Oysi should work with a wheel company to put together packages (kind of like Endless is doing now).

Thanks for watching and appreciate the feedback! I'm glad you brought up rockering. I rocker my big wheel skates for cruising around. I skate a lot of park and transitions, where rockering the frames is not desirable. I thought I mentioned that the frames were rockerable, but I was for sure skating them with a wheel configuration that resulted in a flat set up, and was more or less opining that in the flat set up, it felt really train tracky. In comparison, the IQON AG60 do not feel like that when skating flat because of the slightly shorter wheel base and smaller maximum wheel size. Rockering the Oysi would be best for street style skating versus transition. I also liked that Faction worked with a wheel company (looks like 50/50 or Chroma based on the clear core) to come up with a matching wheel set up to the Shredpool Oysi frames. I didn't talk about it in this video as the video was more for the frames than wheels.

@@Jordan.Skates agreed and great video and skating! Just wanted to add that in my experience, one of the major factors contributing to the train tracky feeling when skating flat besides the wheelbase is the split between the middle wheels. This is imo also very noticeable on Aeons for example which can feel train tracky even when skating flat with smaller (58-60) wheels due to the massive split between the middle wheels. For me, rockering was a huge improvement of this, also for skating transitions. IMO, the medium Oysi is still suitable to be skated flat probably, even though I prefer a slight rocker. However, the classic Oysi I would only skate rockered due to the even longer wheelbase and larger split. Due to the long wheelbase, you also still have great stability despite the rockering. Sorry for the rant 😊

I skate the Original Oysi on my Seba SX and the Medium Oysi in 269mm on my Valo TV1s. My Originals have 72/60 but with a flat profile wheel in the middle and pointy on the outside. I use Undercover wheels all around and the second you lean over, they only touch the middle wheels and they are like having a super short wheelbase. My Mediums from 59/68 and were flat after 5 minutes of skating. The middle wheels are old Carlos Bernal wheels that are flat profile with Josh Glowicki super pointy wheels on the outside. As soon as you lean they too end up with a super short wheelbase. I love the setup as I come from ice skating. I used to skate vert a lot with the old Roces Lowriders and they actually had a built in rocker as well. I feel the wheel profile is the biggest success factor to using these frames. Ricardo Lino and the "Magic Rocker" KZbin video sums it up perfectly. Glad you gave them a go through :)

thanks for watching! they really are great frames. I got these in a full set up and wanted to skate them as is first before possibly tweaking wheels. appreciate the tips on improving maneuverability!

These look so good. This also gives motivation to get out there even if it's cold. Like, if it's under 50, I lose so much motivation to get out.

they are really nice if you are looking to cruise around a park and not always grind because of the wheel size. I’ll skate down to 20 degrees just not when it’s wet out

I like your style of making reviews man. I recently got back into rollerblading after many years, and got oysi medium short wb a couple weeks ago after being on GC FL2's for the last while I was skating. And wow... What a revolution this is to me as an old timer! This is what I always wanted to be able to skate, being too scared of wheelbite to skate flat back in the day 😂 I guess there's a lot of new stuff around now that I might find interesting. Have been considering the Blank pigeons too, but still skating my ancient remz Franky's 😁

After comparison with other frames, they’re basically the same height as most other flat frames, the high ride height comes exclusively from the bigger wheels. From a frame perspective the walls and h-block are mostly the same height as traditional flat frames
@Jordan.Skates
@Jordan.Skates 9 ай бұрын
I would say from top of frame to center of axles, it is similar to other flat frames. the smallest wheel you can ride on the outside is 62mm which puts you at a taller ride height, which makes it taller than in comparison to other flat frames (not aluminum because I haven’t skated any aggressive). because of how blocky the hblock is, it made feel like i was sitting taller on grinds compared to other frames. Oysi did a good job packing so much design to handle the biggest wheels within the frame.

thanks for watching! the wheels are the faction shredpool v1 wheels. Same plant that makes Chroma, 50/50, and Dream wheels. they have the two sizes meant for oysi frames. www.factionskatecompany.com/product/shredpool-wheel/

Oysi UFS bolts included aren't really odd they're just that way to allow proper install but more importantly clearance for the 65/58 flat set up
@Jordan.Skates
@Jordan.Skates 9 ай бұрын
totally understand the purpose of the frame bolts. my comment in the video was more that for the frames to fully work, you need the special frame bolts, which is odd and something to look for if buying used

Those frames look really strong, cool design. Thanks a lot for the video. And what about those 'Angled Souls', are they really that interesting??

they are sturdy and are well thought out design wise. thanks for watching! cost aside, i think the concept of the angled souls is intriguing. not sure if i would see a benefit from them but interested to hear more.

Would you compare them to the GC MEGAS or fl4t
@Jordan.Skates
@Jordan.Skates 8 ай бұрын
Good question. I have not skated the Megas or FLT4 so cannot give you a proper comparison. GC generally has thinner and lighter frames, so I suspect both frames would be lighter and less bulky the. The Oysi.

Do you prefer the IQON over the OYSI?
@Jordan.Skates
@Jordan.Skates 9 ай бұрын
Good to hear from you and hope the family is well! I prefer Iqon Ag60 because it’s a low ride height frame with a 60mm wheel max that feels the closest to skating anti rocker. Oysi is different because it’s about maximizing wheel sizing and giving massive wheel bite protection to give you the bigger wheels.
