This is Samsung's latest flagship, the S24 Ultra. Is it REALLY an upgrade over the current S23 Ultra? And is it even worth considering if you have the S22 Ultra? Today I'm going to talk about what my week has been like USING the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, and discuss whether I like it, or not.

Something happened with the end of the video not being cut off. This wasn't an issue in premier, and wasn't a problem in the actual final rendered video. So, I'm not sure what happened. Anyways, I was saying that the S24 Ultra is a great phone, however for the price it's tough to consider when you can get the S23 Ultra for HALF THE PRICE of the S24 Ultra used, refurbished/ second hand from places like Marketplace and EBay. (Then of course, I say goodbye, tell you to subscribe and like ❤) So sorry, I'll make sure this doesn't happen again... :(

The battery life on this thing is wild. This one came off the charger at 5:50 AM, it is now 8:07. I've been playing with settings all day to today on it and lot s of screen-on time. Both phones also did full backups, one to Samsung and Google, and the other to Google only because it was too big. It's 8:07 PM. Battery is 79%. I have a second one that came off the charger a little later. It was used about the same today except it went shopping and bought things at the store with NFC. It is 2% higher at 81%. They both have 10 min screen timeouts during all of this. PS: Recharge times are very fast also with the Samsung 45W charger. I never paid this for phones before. I would buy a flagship 3-4 years old for $400 and keep it until the carrier threw me off their network. However, recently I got into traveling and living abroad. I upgraded my Note 9 with a Note 20 Ultra 5G for its dual SIM capabilities. Battery life is the same as my already-great Note 9. That should work. NOT! There is nothing wrong with their battery life IF you have a normal life, but that all goes out the window when you are traveling an living abroad running two cellular networks and on screen most of the day finding places, calling UBERs, doing translations, etc. The S24 Ultra upgrade is pretty unbelievable all the way around. Between the battery and AI (Advanced Intelligence, not Artificial according to Samsung), this upgrade hit it so far out of the park for what I needed that it was worth every penny. People grouse that it costs $100 more. The Note 20 Ultra 5G $1,299 for 128G and $1,449 for 512G, AND that was before 2 years of hyper inflation. The price went DOWN in between. Pre-orders got the 512G for $1,299 plus $400 credit for a used Note 9 trade-in, plus between $150+ in other discounts. Even with 2 years of insurance for accidental and theft, you couldn't break $1000. Moreover, they went to a titanium frame. I was a military pilot and if it is anything like the titanium I know, it is light alright, but as nasty to work with as spring steel for those who did the fabricating. Combine that with its new capabilities and 7 years of upgrades, and it was a steal. The resale value of every model before it just tanked. These are the reasons the whole family bought one.

I traded in my 23ultra for the 24plus because the 23 was just too damned big, used the SPen a couple times only. Now that the screen resolution is identical, even has more PPI than the 24Ultra because of screen size, it's 300$ less expensive, that's a go for me!

For you, the s23 ultra was too big. For we, it was the reverse, my mom and sister use this phone, I do feel it really small and light, especially in my hands. I still use the note 20 ultra, which is slightly larger and heavier than the s23 ultra. So i found it quite funny when I said to my mom that her phone felt really small and she replied with sarcasm.

It's weird cuz I don't exactly baby my devices and I have a note 10+ without a scratch I've used for 3 years straight with no case or anything in a manual labor environment. My gf with the same phone has dropped it flat on concrete. I love how some people can crack or scratch a phone in a week after "babying" it when they can't just simply admit they're rough and accident prone with their stuff.

I have been using Samsung's official vegan leather case and it just makes the phone a bit too wide to hold comfortably on one hand. (Thankfully that case was a freebie). I've ordered in one of Pitaka's cases which should hopefully be just right.

I've been using the Spigen Enzo, which is about the same thickness/ width as Samsung's, and I know what you mean. It's very combersome, but you did right by Pitaka, they're solid cases. I love the Enzo though, and I think the protection is worth the tradeoff.

If you are going to grow your subscriber base, you had better learn to do some homework before you make global conclusions about the products you are reviewing. Case in point, you are categorically wrong about the scratch resistance of this phone. I would refer you to JerryRigEverything's channel. On his channel he does extensive testing on the scratch resistance of the new glass covers on the S24 Ultra and the titanium edge. His tests proved that this phone is two levels of hardness on the Mohs scale higher than the S23 Ultra. This means that the phone is indeed MUCH harder to scratch than the previous S23 Ultra glass covers. In fact, he speculates that this new level of scratch resistance will eliminate many of the fine-line scratches that accumulate on glass-covered phones like the iPhone and Galaxy phones. So, is this phone scratchproof? That's a really stupid question. Nothing short of a diamond is going to approach being scratchproof. But that isn't what Samsung claimed. Samsung claimed that it would be much more scratch-resistant, and clearly, it is. So you missed the point of what Samsung has communicated. The scratch resistance on this phone is industry-leading, and it is probably superior to any other smartphone on the market right now. This is a significant upgrade by Samsung, and you are completely ignorant of it. I would respectfully suggest that you don't make your audience part of your testing procedures. They are coming to you for your alleged expertise in understanding this phone and tech in general. If you don't have any real expertise they are not going to subscribe to your channel. And why would they? If you are as ignorant about the S24 Ultra features as the audience is, why would they waste their time listening to you?
@ensiel4738
@ensiel4738 7 ай бұрын
I agree with the part where he covered the scratch resistance. He claims to have babied the phone but most likely he got his scratches from debris, sand or other solid particles in his pockets, bags or wherever he stores them (which is the #1 cause of random micro scratches). He also mentioned something about placing the phone screen-side down on a table. Of course, you would eventually scratch your screen due to these irresponsible practices. All of that is pretty easy to avoid. Before putting your phone in your pocket, turn it inside out and pat out any sand or particles. Same goes when placing it in a pocket of your bag, turn it inside out and just get rid of any solid particles that might be in there. Don't place it in the same pocket where you would have keys, coins and other hard objects. Don't place it screen-side down on a solid table. TBH I don't know why it's so hard to observe these basic things. Just be mindful of where you put your phone given how expensive it is. IMO so much R&D goes into these build quality improvements and it's part of what we pay for the phone so might as well just use the phone as it is. The need for screen protectors and bulky cases I feel are just old habits carried over from when phones were built awfully. To this day my Note 10 Plus screen is as smooth and scratch fee as it was from the day I bought it, no screen protector or other crap.

@@ensiel4738 Interesting thoughts. However, you misunderstood the point of my original comment. I DO disagree with his characterization that Samsung's and all phone companies' promises of improved scratch resistance are "bullshit." I also disagree with his assertion that Samsung implied that the S24 Ultra was scratchproof. In my opinion, based on actual tests, the scratch resistance of this phone is a major breakthrough. The reviewer completely missed this fact. To belittle and berate Samsung for making false promises is dead wrong and inaccurate. Samsung has walked up to the plate and hit it out of the park with this new display. I do agree with you that it is frustrating for reviewers and individuals to blame their smartphones for their own abuse and klutziness. As you mentioned, if you take care of your phone, you won't drop it, and you won't scratch it. A little common sense goes a long way. Great observation on your part. My S22 Ultra is now two years old, and I did buy an expensive $65.00 case for it. And it was good that I did because I did actually drop the phone once on concrete once when I was getting out of my truck with some packages. My phone slid out of my pocket when my hands were full, and my truck is a four-wheel drive that sits high. So, my phone fell about four feet. Fortunately, the case did its job, and my phone sustained no damage at all. I have taken care of my phone very carefully, but I do have some fine-line scratches on the display. My hat is off to you for being able to avoid that type of damage. From what I understand, the new S24 Ultra screen hardness will help prevent these fine-line scratches, and for me, that would be a significant improvement in smartphone technology.

How do you miss the misplaced action button when you know that you can use the perfectly placed home button for it which has been used for ages also for launching the camera? Btw., the usage of Titanium is not Apple-inspired. They have been working on it like Apple for years, or do you really believe you could simply introduce Titanium on the fly?
